The basic saurus are definitely showing their age at this point, very bland by necessity having to fit rank and file. I'd love to see an update similar to what they did with chaos warriors, where they kept the feel of the models but did an excellent job modernizing them and the stances are much more dynamic. They could also use to be a bit bulkier being on 32mm bases. I'm personally not a big fan of the saurus foot hero models either, and our cold ones are total derp zone. Luckily the dark elf ones are excellent and easy to convert!
I'm still staring at the total derpfest my kroxigors are i can only admire how my painting could never not make those hideous
Speaking of converting and saurus warriors. The blood bowl team's saurus looks amazing and when I have them on my desk next to the old warriors it makes me sad for what could be.
exactly, they have updated them in small batch of 6 different models... it cant be that hard to layout a sprue with 3 interchangeable poses (club, spear, Alpha) and make the banner/drums just different arms as they are now and format that for mass production.
One dud in the range? lol Saurus Warriors Saurus Knights Kroxigors Salamanders are a given. And then pretty much all of the other Finecast crap too. Razordon only holds up on the quickest of glances, same with the Slann and other character models. The last model I painted was a Skink Priest, jesus F christ it's so bad. Corona will still go on for a year, but I guess I'll try getting some Skink characters from Last Sword.
I actually don't mind saurus warriors and salamanders but ill give you kroxigors, altho I don't think they look horrible. I mean, for such a large, old range i think its impressive how well its held up.
I'm gonna convert them into Old Bloods/Scar Vets. I'll try to let them ride on Cold Ones but that's gonna be a lot of green stuff work to do. We'll see. It's not about the possibilty to make new sprues, it's about costs. LM/Seraphon are not such a popular army as elves or chaos so GW believes they're not worth it. That's what I think about it. What really grinds my gears is that in 25 years of LM, GW has published just one single saurus hero on cold one. And it's not even a good model. I mean almost everyone puts at least one cowboy /w great weapon in their list so why do I have to convert them on my own from saurus cav? And why don't we have a skink command unit? Converting a musician is hell unless you don't wanna use a blowpipe as whistle.
I understand the costs, but that's just my point.... they already did it for BB... which has FAR less returns than AoS. so while I get the cost argument, GW has no ability to use it against us
Yep, that’s Tyranids 110%, the chitin just above the spike says it all. The fact that the tail appears to be in mid-air means it looks like it’ll be a flying creature, and the fact that it’s curled around itself in a circle means it’s alive and well. Could we be seeing the return of the Parasite of Mortrex? Looks like Tyranids will come after Dark Eldar in the Xenos race release cycle, probably after Sisters of Battle in the overall schedule (Dark Eldar will be after Dark Angels, and Sisters will probably be at the same time as Dark Eldar given I’m sure GW said the two would be fighting each other in a boxed game). Haha, I wouldn’t be at all surprised if it was more Slaanesh crap, but the chitin above the barb means it’s Tyranids. There’s a possibility it could be Genestealer Cults, but Genestealers don’t have the layers of chitin.
honestly it gives me venomthrope vibes... but I could see how gargoyle tail would be possible, so could be a flyer
Good try but Venomthropes don’t have spikes on their tails, and they already have a plastic kit - there’s no reason why GW would make another Venomthrope model. Gargoyles on the other hand have spikes on their tails just like the one on the Rumour Engine: As did the Parasite of Mortrex (which is really just a massive gargoyle) in its one existing depiction: The Parasite existed as a usable character in the 5th Edition Codex, before it was ditched by Robin Cruddace (who created it in the first place) in 6th Edition because he was afraid Tyranids were able to hurt his beloved Imperial Guard. Given the Dark Eldar release includes a plastic version of Lelith Hesperax (one of their named characters), I’m sure it must be the return of the Parasite to Ninth Edition. That would be fantastic.
A guy with a Midas touch for Imperial Guard and a reverse Midas touch for everything else If the Parasite is returning then perhaps Cruddace isn’t writing our Ninth Codex!
