That's the thing that confuses me about the community page. The only people that'd go there on a regular basis are people already deep in the hobby. However GW treat it like a great place to advertise and put out pointless stuff like this.

The biggest example of this is what they did with Astartes. Where they took it off of Youtube where it was extremely popular and being viewed by everyone in and out of the hobby. So they could put it on their site where it is only ever gonna be found by people already into the stuff. They seem to be under the delusion that someone who isn't already in the hobby is just gonna wander onto their site and find all this stuff. Meanwhile the people who are actually seeing it are people who know the game and the rules. So we just roll our eyes at best, and at worst we notice when their own articles get fundamental parts of the new rules wrong.

That would have been a great advertise , at least for the new vampires.

then there is a problem because we are the people who care about the articles. if they aren't targeted at us then who are they for? random people won't be looking at or following warhammer community and what few very casual people who do aren't reading every article. its the dedicated committed and ravanis fans who pick apart every detail we can because we care enough to do so. if GW isn't making the content for those who consume the content then what the heck are they doing?

I would of been like this "hey dude do you want to have a bunch of dudes with great axes who ride wingless dragons?" Then meet the fyreslayers (insert display with like 4 magmadroths)

O sure, we'd get "enough" mileage out of it. But it'd just be increadibly lame to go from "Seraphon are so amazing at magic they can control the uncontrollable" to "everyone can do that now, so seraphon just have slightly more range or can hijack control".

I'd rather get something a bit more inspired, even if it isn't as mechanicly powerfull.

Shouldn't we be though? I mean, for new players the whole article is nonsense cuz they have no clue what half of it means as they have no frame of reference. So an article describing how a unit changed from 2.0 to 3.0 just isn't usefull for them. Like @Christopher said, if you want it to be for new players you're better off just posting pictures of cool looking stuff selling whatever cool fluffy nonsense they do.

But instead we get a "in depth" look into the rule-changes, which is meaningless for new players, but also far too shallow, to the point of absurdity, for existing players. So who is the target audience for this?

This is what happens when Veruca Salt runs the Company and there's no Willy Wonka to keep her in line.

I was just thinking about potential buffs and our ability to get up to two re-rolls per casting phase via Arcane Mastery and Itxi Grubs now has the additional advantage of helping avoid miscast.

Given the ease with which core battalions can be included I think Arcane Unforging was also buffed in that there will now likely be multiple enemy heroes running around with items giving us lots of targets.

One thing I thought of was how rally will interact with salamander units. Imagine rolling extra dice for Skink casualties and returning salamanders on a 6... I doubt it will work that way after a faq, but would be a nice buff

I saw a little discussion of it in the rumor thread, but CoS as allies feels like a pretty solid buff to that area of things compared to the old Sylvaneth allies, right? I don’t necessarily think it makes allies worth it enough to take very often, but when you do there’s a lot of utility options to fill gaps in the Seraphon roster

"Enhancements" can also just be an extra spell. So there's not necessarily going to be more artifacts. I think you won't see terribly much difference in that respect.

The SoB preview/review for AoS 3.0.

This might be the first one where they show off actual 3.0 mechanics being advantageous for a faction outside of the blatently obvious like "you can use all-out attack and then this unit does more damage", with the various new Grand strategies & battle tactics, which are all but perfect for SoB. Or as they themselves point out:

    upload_2021-6-23_12-54-11.png

Which does kind of raise the question; which armies have actually been made with the new rules in mind? SoB seem to benefit to an extreme amount, with several of the examples given here being trivial to use while also being very powerfull. And the new lumineth stuff also clearly has been made with 3.0 in mind given the amount of command points suddenly appearing out of thin air. Similarly the new vampires switched to actually effective MSU's instead of hordes of skeletons in their newest tome, and Slaanesh mortals also already seemed to favour MSU's. On the other hand, our battletome doesn't fit in nearly as well in AoS 3.0, dependent as we are on buff-stacking, hordes & with middling monsters. Despite being one of the newer tomes.

I'd love to know when they've actually started to prepare for AoS 3.0 and take it into account for new stuff.

Despite favoring MSU, I wouldn't be 100% sure they will be the meta. 1-2 full stacks and monster-mash/herohammer maybe more like it. Maybe couple more 5-10 man BL units. At least, my lists didn't transform much - 30-10-10 skinks are still a core instead of 40-10-10.

Out of top-tier armies Lumineth and KO are absolute winners. Lumineth benifit from almost all the new rules and don't suffer at all. All their point hikes are compensated by removal of the battalion, which wan't important at all. Suprisingly, hurracan temple was hit pretty hard despite being weaker than Auralan Legion.

KO simply don't care. They still have mobility, they still have alpha-strikes. Triumphs got weaker, but not by much.

Slannesh was absolutely destroyed by new prices.

Soulblight will still struggle against shooting/magic meta. Bloodknights are clarified to have retreat+charge, but new coherency hit them hard. Zombies were very popular and now got even better with 60 model hordes. Dragon Lords are clear winners, but nothing which meta can't deal with. Anvengorii look like Gristlegore -1.

So, considering all of above GW still don't understand how their own game works and really don't care much. Even if GW gave more attention to newer tomes, SBGL and Slaanesh are failures, IMO.

And here we have the fyreslayers one which doesn't explicitly mention a single new rule. Probably making this the absolute worst one. Even ours at least mentioned all-out-defense as a thing that exists now, even if it then didn't really do much with it.

The more I study the COS roster, the more I begin to think that any competitive Seraphon list could benefit from COS allies

Not that it's 100% necessary, but that it could benefit.

Wait till they put out blades of khorne and the only thing they say is. "You know what you're getting into here. Get your bloodthirsters and start hacking and slashing to victory."
