I do think they will update us soon. Kroak was a promise, I think. Maybe next year, maybe the year after. Depends how long they've wanted to. I'd take just updated Saurus Warriors, Guard, Knights, and Kroxigor honestly. Hunting packs would be great, too, naturally. But I really would like a new Stegadon. The current one seems so tiny compared to art...
You left out the big guy! And speaking to a post further down thread, are those models in the Underworlds line (I think it's Underworlds--the box of four or five named models) any good in AoS? I looked at their Warscrolls but nothing really jumped out at me. They don't seem to show up on any lists here.
I didn't think Kroak had to be mentioned lol. But the Dread is up in the air tbh. Heard rumors that FW is being phased out and even the Dread might not be legal soonish. As for Underworlds, I think only the DoK warband was that good, and it just doubled in price lol. Ours is a bit.... Weirdly meh/not that good.
It's bothers me too. I hope warscrolls to be remain free and not behind the paywall. And I do hope, that GW updates warscroll builder on their website to a new edition. It's either that or Battlescribe will be our only solution for decent army building and online warscroll viewer (like it is now for 40k). By the way, maybe some of you know this - there is this website that allows you to access for free to warscrolls and rules for armies (40k and AoS) https://wahapedia.ru/ Pretty handy, especially for 40k because it's shows every stratagem for that unit (like here is the link to IG Infantry Section https://wahapedia.ru/wh40k9ed/factions/astra-militarum/Infantry-Squad with full stratagem roster on them). As I started playing IG again this site saved me a ton of hours of searching info on rules, stratagem etc. across what? Four? Five books?
Ours is fairly terrible. It's expensive, the skinks are useless (I mean, what do you expect of three random skinks?), the chameleon is a weaker version of a regular chameleon (doesn't benefit from cover) the oldblood is a weaker version of the regular oldblood (no command ability, using arguably the worst weapon), and the only special ability it gives is a deepstrike. Which serves no purpose as the warband is terrible. Some of the other warbands are at least decent, though there's only been like one or two that are truly competitive. But ours is definitly somewhere at the bottom of the barrel...
They could prob get away with a majority refresh for us with 12ish kits of they actually wanted to. Maybe they would do it in two phases, 6 kits each time? I doubt they'd do every possible hero option (oldblood on foot, scar vet on cold one, etc) because those are easy conversions anyway. I would be most hopeful for saurus warriors, knights and guard, krox, a dual salamander/razordon kit, and chameleons to be honest. Whoever mentioned a dual slann/starseer kit, that's a great idea too!
Fw won't get rid of arguably their most successful aos model Fw will never be phased out because ya know everyone wants their products in the 40k line I'm personally waiting on my leviathan Dread from them
Nurgle getting the next 3rd Edition tome after the boxed game factions makes sense, given they are one of two armies that still has a 1st Edition time (which was released in January 2018 before Legions of Nagash, Malign Portents and Second Edition arrived). Pestigors and Khorngors would be awesome and would make sense given we’ve got Tzaangors and Slaangors, plus Beastmen getting god-marked armies will be great Lumineth getting nothing makes sense because their second tome was probably designed with Third Edition in mind, as were the Soulblight and second Slaanesh tomes. A Kragnos-style Centaur army would be great, and is what we really should have got in the boxed game. The name needs changing though, why would they be ‘Alarielleborn’? They aren’t related to the Sylvaneth in any way. Kharadron getting a second wave would be great, but merging Fyreslayers with Dispossessed would be awful and unfair - avoiding giving Fyreslayers new units will not fix their biggest problem (lack of model variety), indeed it will make it worse as the other factions all get more and more new models. Investing some time and money in designing new models is the only way their situation can really be improved, because GW have very little to lose here with Fyreslayers having a very small player base as it is, if that popularity survey is to be believed, and those existing players that are still using them are hardcore die-hard Fyreslayer fans, they’re not going to be put off if any new models are released. On the contrary they’re going to be elated, and even if they only got a couple of new units, if they are particularly different, new and exciting that will fix their variety problem and could easily be enough to inspire a load of new players into collecting them (including me). If weird shit like a lot of those new Slaanesh models and silly stuff like Elf kangaroo riders can sell, new Fyreslayers should most definitely sell. I’ve got some great ideas for new Fyreslayer units, and I’m sure that the big-shot lorewriters at GW could develop some ideas too if they stopped obsessing over Elves for a minute. However, Khazalid Empires is an awesome name, and if they could give regular Dwarfs a book of their own that separates them from Cities of Sigmar and gives them a wave of new models, that would be wonderful and should provide a third Dwarf faction that retains a lot of the Fantasy Dwarf playstyle and mechanics (being slow but decent at both shooting and combat, with artillery aplenty and a unique relic system - I’d love to see a reintroduction of the Fantasy Runic Magic Item system for them, or at least an AoS version of it). Now I’m taking all of this with significant salt as there’s no evidence as to whether any of this is official knowledge, but a lot of it I’d like to see implemented (though all this crap about not giving Fyreslayers any models must stop).
GW will never phase out Forge World, certainly not in the near-future, because all new models for The Old World will be made by them as I understand it.
I mean out of AoS. There are how many models left in the FW store that are AoS specific? The Khorne Dragon, the Saurian, and a few destruction beasties some Stormcast heads, right?
Spoopy scary Boogeyman from 1.0. yeah, forgot about him.... More and more just seems to disappear off that portion of the website as time goes on. Hell, a lot of stuff from some 40k ranges just up and vanished in the past year while the worked on HH.
The mourngul is pretty easy to find. They also make the great unclean one. A different bloodthirster. The bone grinder gargant. The fucking rogue idol. I believe the named korgorath. A few different squigs.
Specific to AoS. Not daemons, as all of those are 40k and at times HH usable. They will have a place if AoS FW goes the way of the dodo. Remove them and that's about half of the AoS range, if not more. So, unless theres suddenly a new FW AoS model, or we get new updated FW rules for them on the day of 3.0 release, I'm going to be worried about the Saurian's longevity.
Could be a reference to the "Lifequake" she set off that ended up waking Kragnos. Unintentional creation/wakening of a whole centaury like race of beings spawned from the blood/magic of Kragnos, who is a literal god.
