You really shouldn't worry about the saurian. If I'm correct(please I don't want to be) the dread saurian has only had what? 3 warscrolls ever? I'm not saying I think it's wrong to worry. Because everything gw has done within the past 3 months have been a cause of worry. But I do disagree that the dread saurian could possibly be removed.
New race made form the force of a god using life magic doesn't mean brought the dead race back from extinction. That's the fear. How long will it continue to be in production? Already I've heard some feint rumblings of the FW AoS range being axed. Nothing reliable, but it keeps coming up.
The whole current seraphon range will be out of production one day. A poor arguement regarding a model which I can go and order right now, tbh. As for rumors - Monstrous Arcanum is in GHB's legal books. If they were going to cut FW range anytime soon, it wouldn't be there.
I doubt that's actually the name. We often don't get full names early on in rumors. Also, what? We had pictures of mortarion almoat a year before he was released because of a Russian sculptor. This stuff is done way in advance and it's quite reasonable that an entire army was designed alongside Kragnos, meaning most of, if not all, the design and modeling is done.
Hasn't the Dread Saurian been "No longer available" in the United States for months now? That's what it says right now at least, and has for quite a while
Stormcast points are in the GHB as well, but we already know those are incorrect. I have yet to see a listed point value for anything from Monstrous Arcanum though. As for the model argument. That's asinine. You have seen the model revamps and seen the removal of models for no good reason if you've spent any amount of time following GW. So many FW models have been dumped for both systems out of the blue without warning that it's not even funny. Edit- I should add that I don't own a FW Dread, and while I like it, I much prefer the one I have that's a proxy. I'd like to continue to play the model, meaning I hope it continues to be supported. Best case scenario for a removal is it coming to plastic.
Been sold out for probably more than 2 months and 3 days when I last purchased something from fw. (It's like I was gonna order my 4th then I noticed leviathan dread was available)
I would love to have a Dread Saurian but I'm intimidated by the modeling and painting. I started this hobby in, what, 2017? I'd read a bunch of Dan Abnett's 40K books, looked around the website a little bit, and walked into the (then) Games Workshop store (which, being named after the closest major thoroughfare here in Lexington, Kentucky, where we name all our streets after famous horses, now has the spectacular name Warhammer Man o' War), and said, "Good morn, proprietress, I would like to negotiate the purchase of hundreds of dollars worth of metal Sisters of Battle please!" So I got those, painted some up, and then entered a store tournament using the then-current Kill Team rules. And, setting a precedent that has not once since been followed, I won. I won spectacularly. I wiped the assistant manager's Dark Eldar flying motorcycles off the board in two turns. None of which is important. What's important is that there's this local guy who is SUPER COOL and also apparently SUPER RICH (he takes everybody out to lunch during the downtime when the shop is closed for the manager's break). Since I won the tournament, he gave me this Forge World model of some kind of Adeptes Custodes vehicle that cost like $300 and was, I cannot stress this enough, BEAUTIFUL. And here's the thing. I was AFRAID of it! My modeling and painting skills were then vanishingly small (they're not a lot better now) and I didn't even recognize the material it was made of! It sat in its box above my workbench for a long time before the Custodes became a full(ish) 40K army and a friend of mine started playing them so I gave it to him. This has been your long-winded explanation of why I have never purchased a Dread Saurian.
Models - maybe, but not the rules, which were mentioned in rumors several times. And there are a lot of long-time wishlisting out there too. Can't say for UK, but for rest of the world: Maybe they are just selling rest of stock, idk. You compared a points for a tome, that was meant to be published after GHB to a list of legal books. I would say, it is a little bit impolite to call a person "asnine" only because they disagree with you on topic regarding toy soldiers, but I can't judge. If you want to see a faction of wanna-be shaggoths and dread saurian gone, I will leave you with that.
Yeah, Forgeworld resin can be daunting prospect for a first-timer, especially with something as large as the Dread Saurian. I'd definitely consider getting familiar with the material first before trying to go big with it. That does remind me that I still have to get more than the base layer on mine when I get home from my deployment in September, along with the rest of my collection...
I think it’s just a reference to the bizarre 4chan meme of drawing and sharing erotic art involving Kragnos and Alarielle
Let me be perfectly clear. I did not call you asinine. I called your argument thus. Very clearly said. Any portrayal otherwise is a mischaracterization of the discussion. In addressing your 'point' about wannabe shaggoths and losing the Dread Saurian. I don't really have a want for them, and I also clearly stated I want the Dread Saurian to be playable/a thing. Kragnos's army is maybe on the way and it's only reasonable to assume they've already worked on it. How is that any different exactly? The battletomes are at most a few weeks behind the release of the GHB. That's a case of the two hands not speaking with one another, something that happens between FW and GW branches all the time. I don't disagree there is wishlisting, but often rules for printed materials are sorted out and put together for printing months in advance after models are designed. If the models were created around the time Kragnos was being designed, it stands to reason that if there was an army that was coming from them, rules would have followed and likely in the process of being printed soon. Meaning they're already decided on, probably. Nothing in that rumor is unreasonable, if not to your taste. I was hoping it wasn't that. I was ignoring it.
The dread is a playable thing though. It's expensive yeah. Cumbersome of course that's what comes with notebook sheet sized bases. But ultimately still playable. I figured people would always slap fly on one if they have a Dread to begin with so they don't have to worry about the terrain. But I do understand concerns(stupid sized base when a megagargant or a rogue idol base would work fine) and well were swimming in cp why not just use a rampage and take out the terrain then? Easy way to say "yeah I got a huge base, don't mind me making room for it xD"
Maybe I should say "continue to be playable". I've used it a few times to decent effect. It's issues have to do with damage output for such an investment.
Sigh. Damage issues. Accuracy issues yes that 3+ at best for jaws is a pain and rend -2 isn't what it should be. But I think on the charge vs infantry units it can pump out something like 60 possible wounds which is pretty kosher if I don't say so myself
I used two Dread Saurians vs Khorne recently, and they did work, just not much damage. Missed a lot of the attacks, and the tail attacks literally never hit. One died to 30 Bloodletters and a Skulltaker, but one managed to chew through 3 Khorgoraths and hold off a bunch of Bloodreavers.
Yeah. People think our buff stacking is OP, but forget that armies like Khorne just get auras of extra attacks, bonuses to hit, etc. just from being near heroes or other units.
