So while I'm still at 1000 points, it's time to really my allies and build a real army. Here's my plan for 2000 points right now: Allegiance: Seraphon - Constellation: Koatl's Claw - Mortal Realm: Ghur - Grand Strategy: Predator's Domain - Triumphs: Inspired Leaders Gotrek Gurnisson (435) in Command Entourage - Allies Saurus Astrolith Bearer (150) in Warlord Saurus Scar-Veteran on Carnosaur (215) in Warlord - General - War Spear - Command Trait: Dominant Predator - Artefact: Eviscerating Blade Saurus Oldblood on Carnosaur (270) in Command Entourage - Artefact: Amulet of Destiny (Universal Artefact) Skink Starpriest (130) in Warlord - Artefact: Arcane Tome (Universal Artefact) - Spell: Fiery Convocation Slann Starmaster (265) in Command Entourage - Spell: Stellar Tempest Battleline 5 x Saurus Knights (110) in Hunters of the Heartlands - Lances 5 x Saurus Knights (110) in Hunters of the Heartlands - Lances 30 x Saurus Warriors (315) in Warlord - Spears - Reinforced x 2 Core Battalions Command Entourage - Magnificent Hunters of the Heartlands Warlord Additional Enhancements Artefact Artefact Total: 2000 / 2000 Reinforced Units: 2 / 4 Allies: 435 / 400 Wounds: 99 What brings me quite some headache is my Lord Kroak, he will surely look great standing on the shelf! Thats a shame, right? I would love to field him, just how? Ofcourse cutting Gotrek and the Slann, for Kroak and a Stegadon comes to mind. But I also want to try Gotrek... well decision's... maybe the wisdom of Lustria can help me.
Hey! I haven't played any games with KC yet so take this with a grain of salt, but here's what I'm thinking. I've just never been impressed with saurus warriors and I don't think that's going to change in 3.0. I would remove them and add a 3rd unit of 5 knights for starters. That frees up 205 points that you could put towards kroak if you want. That gives you 40 spare points. On paper, I can't really justify the 270 point mark for the oldblood on carnosaur either. When I get around to trying out KC, I plan on running a sunblood. Despite going down in points I think their value actually went up since their CA targets an enemy meaning multiple of our units can benefit and we can still stack a CA on one of our units in conjunction with the sunbloods. The Oldblood's CA just seems useless to me, especially in KC when we already get +1 to hit on the charge and can't stack for +2, and if we need it the KC generic CA gives us +1 in subsequent rounds anyway.... sure the oldblood hits harder than the scarnosaur, but is it really 55 points harder and with a worse CA? I'm not sure, but I don't think the oldblood is worth it, in KC at least. So I would probably swap the oldblood for a sunblood and then figure out what to do with the spare 185. Probably something like 5 saurus guard and an endless spell, either lifeswarm or purple sun
Yes of course! When I first saw the points for 3.0 I thought, wow Saurus Sunblood seems realy strong now, I totally forgot! Having Gotrek Gurnisson probally helps with cutting the Oldblood on Carnosaur, making the loss of punch not so hard. With the Saurus Warriors I wanted to add some body's, I'm unsure if 3x five kights makes me to vunerable on objective control. I could cut the Saurus Warrior's (-315p) completly and field ten Saurus Guard (230p) with an Emerald Liveswarm (60p), making Lord Kroak near immortal at 1995 points... Or I go with 3x five Saurus Knights (3x 110p), five Saurus Guard (115p) and the Pruple Sun of Shyish (70p), for a bit more damage and fear, geting clean 2000 points. Now I have mutch to think about with the Battleline choices. There is even a World where twenty Saurus Warrior's, Chronomantic Cogs and an old Bound Ravenak's Gnashing Jaws (if we can still field it?!) wait's for me... Really love the Endless Spells! Thanks for the help, I can't wait to grow my army, there's so mutch to try out!
