I know, right? I have bothered with string before, on my warriors of Minas Tirith. I fixed it with knots, but they unraveled quite easily when moving on the table or in storing. Perhaps a thin enough rod of steel/metal might do? Grrr, Imrahil
Thread and a tiny drop of super glue should make it pretty stable. I used sisal fibre on my Kurnoth Hunter but I am not sure how durable that is. But yeah, a metal rod is an option as well.
That I do have at the moment, might try with a warrior first, not surebof it is the roght gauge though. Will see
Good thought, perhaps some sanding might work. I'll hit you up when I have got the time to try this out Grrr, Imrahil
Today's hobby time stood in the light of teaching my son to paint his first model He really liked the painting, he was focused and happy about the colors. He couldn't wait to show the model to his mother and siblings. So much so that he had no time to do extra highlights At the end of the day he wanted to do another one and clean up the model that he already did paint. During a next session I will help him with shading, more highlights and perhaps basing I asked if I could share pictures of the model with you guys and he liked that idea. He insisted that I would mention that he is 7 years old (8 years, in 2 months ) Here is his model: Grrr, Imrahil and Elphir
Haha! Hey, it looks awesome! Do you get to play the game much or just focus on the hobby aspect mostly? If so, will you teach him to ay as well?
Thanks, on behalf of my son Since half a year I try to get a game night in every month with my brother, who is a starter as well. No models for him yet, though. So perhaps I will try some of the game with my son, but I am not sure if he is old enough to get a grasp on it. He started to make up rules of his own this evening, though.(I overheard him explain them to his younger sister) Grrr, Imrahil
Great job for one so young! Highlights aren’t really necessary to be honest, I’ve never bothered with them in my entire wargaming life and my models look great as battle-ready units (but then I’ve always been more interested in the collecting, building and gaming aspects, if your boy is a big fan of painting he might enjoy highlighting ). Getting them started early is the key, though I didn’t start playing Warhammer until I was 10, I got into wargaming in general at a much younger age, probably about 5 or 6-ish, when my dad and I used to play a simple dice game with my toy knights to see which side would win - melee involved dicing off for each pair of knights in combat, shooting involved rolling a dice for the shooter in the attempt to get a score based on how close the target was, with a successful roll killing the target. Great to hear that he’s already making up his own rules, sounds like he’ll become a great rules-writer one day! I’d be interested to hear how his rules compare to the mainline Middle Earth Strategy Battle Game!
I agree with everyone. Great model, it should be saved for the years to come, put it in a case or anyway keep it separated from the rest of the army. You want to preserve it!
That is some great work! Really fantastic that he is showing interest in painting! I did a similar thing with my almost-2-year-old last weekend, letting her paint one of her little toy dinosaurs while I painted up some space marines
