Anyone attending the Nashcon tournament this weekend? from nashofsigmar on twitter. looks like a good mix of armies
Oh, Beasts of Chaos and Fyreslayers... why hast GW forsaken thee? I know this is just one (smallish?) convention, but still.
Broke down the list by army. Here's the totals: SBGL - 3 OBR - 3 FEC - 1 Nighthaunt - 1 StD - 3 Tzeentch - 6 Nurgle - 2 Khorne - 2 Slaanesh - 1 Skaven - 1 Mawtribes - 5 Ironjawz - 3 Bonesplitterz - 1 Sons - 4 Gitz - 1 Sylvaneth - 1 Seraphon - 4 Stormcast - 3 Cities - 4 DoK - 5 IDK - 4 KO - 4 LRL - 1 I don't know much about the current meta having only played 2 games of 3.0 but I'm a little surprised by some of the totals. I would have thought there'd be more Skaven and LRL while being less KO and OBR. Perhaps I'm misinformed but I had thought Skaven and LRL are pretty strong at the moment while KO and OBR would seem like they'd be nerfed quite a bit by the 3.0 changes.
I attended! Played for the win game 5 and unfortunately lost on something kinda silly so dropped down to 6th. Great event, 2 seraphon players went 4-1.
Top table against KO game five. I thought I was pretty clear about the intention of my slann being out of LOS so he couldn't get alphaed and gave away first because of it. He informed me he could see my slann and then when I said okay then I'll take top he told me I already gave it away. Live and learn.
Thats bad sportsmanship on his part. Spoken intent trumps all. Sorry that happened to you. Great job!
Haha I would tend to agree but he was within his right to do that. Just not the way I like to play the game.
I'm curious about the Slave to Darkness vs Slaves to Darkness matchup. Because I know the conventional wisdom is that Archaon should be in the army but I know a few StD players who just don't want to put Archaon in their army.
That was my friends round 1 match up. He was not running archaon, instead had x3 units of empty throne knight dudes. The other army had Archaon I believe
Nashcon is a unique two list event. My preferred list and the list I ran in all my wins is below. Only thing I'd change would be to change Curse for heal, I think Curse is trash. Just too low range and you never get it off. Might also drop shackles for something else, not sure what yet. Possibly split one of the sallies into two singles. Correct! Anthony's second list was an archaon list and he wanted to get it out of the way early. He played his 6 varanguard kotet list in the rest of the games.
Cool list, so you were pretty happy with it overall then? It's a shame you lost to a "gotcha". Tom seems like he would be that kind of player based on things he says on the Warhammer Weekly show. What did you say to notify him you wanted your slann out of line of sight?
Yeah I was really happy with that version of the list. The bastiladon let's you be really patient and into the right things it sticks around. I did 3d3 summoning almost always, kept the priest in the pyramid and tried to ping off heroes with that and comets call. I almost never cast shackles. Salamanders are so good but the range is tricky and you can easily kill yourself out of range of your second or third unit. It's a very patient list and I never really went for the huge alpha unless it was more of a defense choice. If its all the same I'd rather not get into it. I'll just say I thought it was perfectly clear, but obviously that wasn't the case in his pov. If I was in his shoes I would have handled the situation differently and at the very least allowed me to take top as we hadn't even started playing yet but you are within your right to play however you want given its not actual cheating. I had a great time and was happy with the way I played all weekend, so I'm mostly just looking forward to my next event. Might want want try out some coalesced stuff as I haven't played it much in 3. Might just stick with this as I think I'm actually started to get a feel for it.
Can be as subtle as a different artefact or spell. You present both lists to your opponent, then choose one of your two lists and have it face down on the table. You both reveal whst you chose at the same time. Honestly It didn't make a huge difference to the way I played.
