Now that is elaborate. I assume it is not new. That looks like neo-classical from about 100-140 years ago. A pity, really. You sometimes see stuff like that being done, but mostly everything is utilitarian these days. Don't get me wrong, I like my bookcases to hold books, but decoration for the sake of decoration is okay as well!
Agreed. Most people are not willing to pay for the labor to create such a thing. More things are seen and treated as disposable, so quality suffers. Maybe with the growing sophistication (resolution, printing with different materials, design tools) and proliferation of 3D printing, we may one day see more complex and artistic creations being created/produced on a larger scale.
Wasn't sure whether to put this here or in the Just for Laughs forum It's no shame being the second best when this is the first best. 99% of you have probably already seen Shrek 2 since the movie came out 17 years ago. There is no such thing as a perfect movie, but there is such thing as a perfect scene, and this is it. 99% of you have probably not seen this \/ which is an entirely different genre done a few days ago. Where once there was illuminated manuscripts, now we have animated manuscripts.
This is one of my favourite movie moments of all time. I've lost track of the number of times I've watched it. In my opinion, the Puss in Boots character is the BEST one in the entire movie series.
