I like how this total army is build from members of different chapters Lovely work again, I love the dirt weathering, it adds a lot to the models. Grrr, Imrahil
The Deathwatch has always been a lore favourite of mine. I love the idea of these elite chapters sending the best-of-the-best to these kill teams. @Warden your paint jobs are really, really good. Keep up the good work!
Thanks! Agreed, that is my favorite thing about the deathwatch. Couldn't decide on a single chapter? Why not do all of them at the same time! Great way for me to explore and build a model for each of my favorite chapters or the ones that I think are cool.
Stormspeeder is complete! So much edge highlighting... I am not as big of a fan of this vehicle having painted it up. Was super excited at first, now I am just happy he is done. If I do another space marine vehicle its going to be either finishing that dreadnought I haven't painted or another box tank. It was hard to paint the chapter symbols! And impossible to do transfers after it was assembled. Here are my poor excuses for the Brazen Claws gunner and Marauders driver: Spoiler Back view: Top down: And all the pieces. I can swap either the triple-melta or the las-blaster-gun in the front, and didn't glue down the turret.
Thanks all for your kind words. I took another look at him today, and I think it looks better in person. The pics make it look way more TRON than I was going for. That being said, I took an army photo of my Deathwatch complete so far: Not necessarily a super competitive roster, but I am happy with the force so far. Here is the list: Jump pack Captain (storm shield/hammer) Primaris Librarian Primaris Apothecary Primaris LT (storm shield/power spear) Kill Marine (storm shield/power maul, also could count as techmarine) 2x Fortis Kill Teams with intercessors/hellblasters (assault and heavy squads), sergeants built with power swords 3x Aggressors (missile launcher and boltstorm gauntlets) 3x Suppressors Stalker AA Tank Stormspeeder Seeing them all ranked up is a nice confidence boost!
Techmarine is complete: Artificer Kailash of the Fighting Tigers of Veda! For any oldhammer fans out there, or those who also like classic variants of 40K then check out the Jungle, home of the Fighting Tigers of Veda. Their creator (Kenton Kilgore) has painted and posted a ton of stuff ever since Rogue Trader, and has served as a big source of inspiration from me ever since I came across his blog years ago. Heraldry: Fun model to paint! Spoiler: extra pics
Thanks! Also finished up my next Watch Captain: Memnon of the Metamarines! Heraldry of the Metamarines: He comes stocked with a bolt pistol, auto bolt rifle, and stormshield on his back. ...and a necron head on his base I had fun magnetizing this guy. Considering he is a captain it is only fitting that I will be able to swap out any weapons loadout I want in the future, to include the other xenos-inspired power sword I made for him: What's better still is he looks fantastic with double power swords! Kinda like darth vader if he weren't burnt to a crisp: Magnetization options!
First of my heavy intercessors is finished, Sergeant Xenothymos of the Blood Angels: Spoiler I was not overly inspired by this guy, so I just painted him up quick. Painted him in the heraldic colors of a Blood Angels sergeant: Xenothymos roughly means "hostile to the alien" in Greek. Spoiler: Sergeant Xenothymos backstory in brief The battle brother who became known as Sergeant Xenothymos of the Deathwatch took his new name upon induction into the long vigil. A proud but defiant Blood Angel, he nearly came to blows with his superiors during the invasion of Hive Fleet Leviathan. Sergeant Xenothymos led a small but vocal minority of battle brothers who held the perceived collusion of the senior chapter officers with the vile Necrons as heretical blasphemy, and condemned the chapter for their actions. As punishment for his protestations, the intransigent battle brother was seconded to the Deathwatch. BAM! Shooting aliens with his finger gun: His left arm is magnetized for future power weapons. As I am posting these pictures I realized just how dusty the spot was where I took the pictures ~~~ Also basecoated my chaplain in black. Redid his ribcage, it came out a bit rough but good enough to paint: Edit: added the lore blurb I just came up with for the Blood Angel and how he got his name.
