Awesome, love listening to you guys while I'm driving around for work. So I'm guessing the counter strategy for beating DoK still comes down to "kill the heroes?"
That -3 to hit a hero from shooting in that specific temple will be frustrating... if it comes up. The rest sounds like we will definitely be trying to kill heroes and NOT play tag with them. That battalion with the teleporting is also frustratingly good. Why did this book have to be so good?
Powercreep. I feel that most of the new books they've been releasing lately have been that way. Not that I would want any of those books to be *bad* by any means, but you can definitely see the race to keep each new and revamped faction exciting and powerful to play.
They were already powerful to play last I saw. Then again, the last time I played them they were rerolling both 5+ FNPs they had and stringing across the board like noodles. It has been a while.
It depends on what list they are running. Kroak and slann s will help as they ignore minuses to hit. I really want to do is hit the big blocks, if they aren't running hagnar they tend to fall apart very quickly
just got around to watching this, seems that kroak will be a boon in this matchup. definitely worth a try when i can get a match in store the powercreep in aos has been pretty bad for sure, although DoK were already quite strong to begin with. Although it would be interesting to take a more indepth analysis of power creep in aos
Hey everyone we have the next WLW ep out this one is a bit different then the ones so far let me know if it worked ok or if i buggered it up again
Great video as always! I was excited to hear your first impressions and breakdown of the new edition rules. *Disclaimer* Rambling incoming, as I tend to ramble when I have a lot to think about and to say. I'm also aware that Fantasy and 40k have gone through multiple edition changes that have completely changed the game before (glad I didn't get too into Tau before 9e dropped), but since I'm relatively new to the gaming side of the hobby this is the first time I've experienced a full-on edition change that completely wrecks they way you're used to playing. And it's pretty disheartening to have spent so much time, money and effort getting excited and collecting my first army only to have most of it relegated to sitting in boxes because that playstyle isn't allowed anymore. I can't honestly say that I agree 100% that it's going to be a good edition, just based on my own personal tastes. Good in terms of everyone having better generic rules, but I still dislike the smaller armies, smaller board, smaller everything, and the move towards everyone having more or less the same generic options for listbuilding with the removal of warscroll battalions. This is the biggest thing I dislike about 3e. The "make everything smaller" philosophy just doesn't sit well with me. The reactive rules are nice, except Unleash Hell, which was still unnecessary imo. Monster and Heroic actions are cool, but I wish they would have added these without altering the entire game. I love monsters, but I'm sad to see hordes get flushed to make them better. I think the "melee combat is dead" argument is more specifically "horde units are dead." Yes, monsters and elite, 3 or 5 man units that can actually perform well in MSU will be better, but we only have 1 such unit in Kroxigors, so melee combat for our Saurus Warriors and Knights is effectively dead. Coherency rules mean that if they get into combat with a big monster you won't get enough attacks on it to do much, and if you're fighting another horde you're basically looking at a multiple-turn tarpit slog. Severe nerfing of buff stacking also didn't help us, since we rely on it more than pretty much any other faction. Good base warscrolls are going to be more important than ever. Rather than encouraging more "variety" all the new rules did was enforce that the better parts of our army are still the best options (Skinks, Thunder Lizards), while the parts of our army that were harder to use are even worse (Saurus, flyers, Troglodon). Also have no idea why my favorite models, Oldblood on Carnosaur, and Troglodon had to get nerfed so hard. They didn't get anything better than the Scar-Vet did, so what gives? On a side note, I'm genuinely curious as to how you think that Saurus Warriors are still going to be good in Dracothion's Tail. Even if you do teleport them and get a charge off, unbuffed Warriors still only get a couple wounds through on anything with more than a 6+ save. I love Warriors and I really want to be able to use them, especially since I have so many and now it doesn't seem worth putting them on the table. Right now, my only hope is that they stop churning out new factions and start updating old ones more regularly. Given that our book was one of the last made without 3e rules in mind, I really don't look forward to the possibility of waiting 2-3 years to get updated if GW keeps to it's current schedule. Maybe when we do get updated again we'll actually get good warscrolls that can, you know, actually function at MSU and without 3-4 buffs being thrown on them. Hopefully if and when that happens we have more than a year before 4e comes out and GW decides that this edition is all about flying units or something stupid...
oh i completely agree, i have always loved the big hordes but we work with what we get i have found that warriors still preform very well if you build for it. you just have to comit to them as they do not work without a complete setup. this is why we like 2" range not if you are doing it right see bellow true it's painfull but not crippling that is far more do to bad points then the rules GW will be GW GW be dumb oh they aren't unbuffed. my warriors still soke up the awesome juce and work more like sword and boards now then pure hammers. when buffed a block of 30 spears(assuming they fight 10 wide 2 deep) will do 13-20 average 16 to a 3+ save, 17-25 damage average 21 to a 4+ save, 22-30 average 26 to a 5+ save and 27-35 average 31 to a 6+. that is still respectable damage(better then 30 buffed skinks) and will cut any non anvil in half if not out right kill it. on top of that they can have one of the top defensive builds with a 3+ save and -1 to hits and wounds even better in coalesed for the -1 to damage but i like the flexibility that DT gives. mix that with our heavy monsters roaring to debuff and a -1-2 to bravery and we are very threatening in the battle shock phase as well as the combat phase hey now no need to be dower we aren't night haunt lvls of bad and a lot of what was added helps our bois out. it will take different tactics, we are going to want to throw at least 2 threats into combat when ever we can but our bravery debuffing is good again and we can still beat face.
Definitely a necro, but I just wanted to say thanks for the recent videos! I never got any notifications on Youtube so I was definitely late in watching them, but you guys haven't been posting them here either so I just wanted to check and see if you were going to keep doing that?
