Once in a while, Onion news stories turn into true stories. Two cases I can think of was when they were making fun of Gillette and said "Screw this, we want FIVE blades on our razors" and "Scientists declare newly discovered species to be delicious." Here is a fake news story about a fake female dictator Here is a real one. If Kim Yo-Jong does become the new ruler of North Korea, I don't expect the lives of ordinary North Korean women to improve in any meaningful way. As for the regime of West Taiwan. Some of the daughters of high ranking CCP officials are spoiled brats, but I haven't heard of any female CCP tyrants. Carrie Lam is a famous name in Hong Kong but she is clearly a party mouthpiece and has no real decision making power. I'll keep an eye on it, but nearly every female CCP official I see seems to be in some form of public relations. Smash that glass ceiling! Women can be genocidal monsters too.
i like to remember that Jiang Qing was the criminal mind that pushed the horrors of the Chinese Cultural Revolution.
China Uncensored likes to mock the CCP showing videos of happy dancing Tibetans so much it has become a running joke. They tried videos of dancing Uyghers and Mongolians but that didn't last very long.
This wasted food wasn't a foolish mistake like the War on Sparrows. People went starving because officials were lazy. Nothing more, nothing less.
Maybe she can hook up with John Cena. They both sold their souls to the CCP and got nothing in return and now lost the respect of Americans.
Probably not. There are about 330 Americans. There will never be a point where no one out of 330 million will do something both stupid and amoral. I can deal with stupid or amoral but not both. You have to be both to deal with the CCP now. More and more Americans, more and more people around the world, are aware of the CCP, so over time there will be fewer people making the Devil's deal than before. What will really help is when and if it becomes trendy to oppose CCP. I long to see CCP villains in movies the way Russians were villains in the 70s and 80s.
I imagine selling out to the CCP is a lot like collaborating with the Galactic Empire. Failure is not tolerated, and "I am altering the deal, pray I don't alter it any further" is a common adage. Hope @NIGHTBRINGER appreciates the Star Wars metaphor simile.
A silver lining of the really crappy Olympics is that is giving international exposure to the CCP being terrible. At this point I'll cling to any small amount of good news. I did buy China Uncensored Olympic shirt. "Beijing 2022 Fake Snow, Real Genocide."
This week's China Uncensored had a lot of interesting stuff in it. Apparently it's not just the International Olympic Committee is corrupted but the Super Bowl and ESPN too. The CCP is backing Putin's bs in Ukraine. The CCP's puppet companies are still winning big contracts for medical supplies to fix problems they caused. The US stepping up counter influence campaigns against the CCP in South Pacific companies. Evergrande is dragging the Chinese real estate market closer to a collapse. China is landing on the moon....sort of. Most important of all. It is possible we may see true American pandas soon.
I don't like Russia and I have sympathy for Ukraine. I am not sure whether the United States, NATO, and/or the European Union should intervene militarily on Ukraine's behalf or not. I suppose I am glad I am not required to make that call. Perhaps I am wrong, perhaps I am being selfish, but my impression is that Putin's government is a threat to all of Russia's neighbors and the CCP is a threat to the entire world. Right now Russia's government is Vladomir Putin. According to wikipedia, he is just shy of 70 years old. The shirtless photos he likes to display suggest he is good health and thanks to his friendship with the CCP he has a limitless supply of human organs to harvest but he is not immortal. I don't know who Putin's successor will be, but I doubt his successor will be as cunning and ruthless as he is. It's not like Putin dying will help Ukraine, but I think it will slow down Russia from invading more stuff. Even if Putin's successor is very formidable, Putin's successor is going to have spend years proving he is formidable so he's going to have spend years putting down internal challenges. I'm sure there are lots of special interest groups, both evil and benign are eagerly waiting to assert themselves once Putin's iron fist slackens. Xi Jinping is just shy of 69 years old. Whether or not he managed to remain party chairman for his entire life, I believe his successor will pursue near identical policies, so will his successor's successor. Hindsight is 20/20, the invasion of Ukraine could have been prevented if the United States, Native, and/or the European Union read the tea leaves and took preparations years ago, but it's too late now. If we could take a time machine back six months, it's too late then too. I don't know where the point of no return was. My understanding, perhaps it's oversimplified but Ukraine wanted to join NATO and Russia was like "Hey NATO, don't do that, you might provoke us. You are actually endangering Ukraine." and NATO, the United States, and the EU were cowed. Maybe that was the tipping point, maybe something else was. We (the entire free world) needs to fortify Taiwan and needs to recognize them as an independent country and they do this incrementally in steps ASAP. China Unscripted had a lengthy podcast talking about parallels between Ukraine and Taiwan. "Will supporting Taiwan provoke the CCP/PLA?" The answer is that it doesn't matter. The CCP/PLA is going to invade Taiwan when they believe they are likely to succeed. They will not invade Taiwan when they believe they are likely to fail. Whether or not the United States or anyone else "provokes" them is irrelevant.
