So, for some added optimism, here are the current unresolved Rumour Engine's that have Seraphon flair to them:

If we're going by the rough trend of Rumour Engine's being revealed ~1 year after posting, we should expect to see the older two very soon. I have a feeling the 3 could be linked to a single kit - whether that's one character or a revamp, I guess we'll have to see.

This is all purely speculation on my part. I'm all ears if anyone has any rumours!

EDIT: It's been brought to my attention that the Scar-Veteran on Cold One kit is no longer for sale on the GW webstore. A hint of things to come?

    I like your optimism ;)
From the last one I think it might very well be Lizard-related.

The second one gives me more of a hobgoblin vibe (like the ones from the AoS 3.0 kick off box)

Well, there are still three Rumour Engines unsolved from 2020 pulling down the statistics ;)

    Grrr, Imrahil

I have a good track record.
I started in 2019, with 40k Salamanders, just before the release of the Invictor Tactical Warsuit (objectively one of the best Salamander units).
In 2020 I started a homebrew chapter, the Dread Saurians, a melee-focused Primaris army; soon after, we got 9th and Indomitus (Assault Intercessors, Bladeguard).
Mid 2021 I had a go at painting a Black Templar Bladeguard, and a few months later the Templars got a range refresh.

I started Seraphon early last year - just before Lord Kroak and the Starblood Stalkers kits. I got the itch for them last week, after playing my first AoS game, and then this spear dropped.

I'm not saying it's me, but maybe it is

Ironicaly I think most of the boxes favoured whomever was supposed to be the winner lore-wise, so usually the SCE :p

Probably just a coincidence, but it'd be funny if it were on purpose.

2 & 3 are very spiky for seraphon. Especially 2 doesn't seem likely.

Weird, it's actually gone, not just "temporarly out of stock".

I'd agree that 2 is a bit of a reach, but I'd be happily convinced 3 is something Seraphon. Maybe coalesced are going more brutal (and spiky? :p)

Yep, gone gone. No other alternative to get it either. I'll take it as a sign of something good.

    Kroq-Gar returned?
That 3rd rumours engine looks like the back of the saddle for a carnosaur?!

I mean they regularly mess up their site, so I wouldn't be too hopefull :p

I'd say it's closer to a slann mask, but regardless the spikes are weird.

It can't be that, we've already got two options for plastic Oldbloods/Scar Veterans - the foot plastic one, which is a particularly good sculpt:

And the foot Oldblood that can be built from the Carnosaur kit if you built the model as a Troglodon (which personally I don't think looks as good but is more modular than the one above).

Nope, Kroq-Gar already exists in plastic (even though the AoS rules writers decided that he should just be cloned as part of their star-lizard lore):
Unless the AoS team wants to put him on a supersized mega-Grymloq (after all, if such a dull and wooden character like Alarielle can be brought back, Kroq-Gar definitely deserves a second chance with a half-decent magic weapon), but if they decided on that then where's my Ungrim Ironfist on giant Magmadroth?

That could well be it, I can't see it at all on the UK site. That would fit with the 'single unnamed hero model' obsession GW has right now and would definitely be an appreciated update.

I wonder how they'll revamp the Cold One design? I could see them redoing it in the style of the Dark Elf Cold Ones, but I'm probably the one person who thinks they look too much like generic real-world Velociraptors, and appreciated the design of the Lizardman ones because they looked like something wholly fantastical and different. I'd prefer to see an evolution on the Lizardman Cold One design, with the same long Baryonyx-like claws on the forearms and absence of velociraptor 'flick claws' on the feet, but with a more solid-looking jaw design, because the one thing I will say about our current Cold Ones is that their bottom jaws are too thin (unless their top jaws are meant to have a particularly high stress tolerance and are used like axes, as per Allosaurus according to the recent series 'Planet Dinosaur').

Baryonyx claws, no Dromaeosaurid killing claw.

My friend, you’re after a Megaraptorid. And I wholeheartedly agree

I mean yeah you're right, but as others have said we have no shortage of unamed hero's, I think bringing back another named hero would be brilliant especially one as awesome as Kroq! Just wishful thinknig on my behalf though!!!

Yup that looks like our Cold Ones. I'm surprised now to see that they were also based on a real dinosaur design, but I'd personally like them to remain based on this one, to keep them distinct from the Dark Elf steeds - just a bit more streamlined design with a bigger bottom jaw and more of a 'killer expression' in the eyes and I'd be very happy.

Maybe a dual kit named + generic scar vet on cold one?

To be honest, simply giving out a new generic scar vet on cold one seems a bit pointless. Sure the current one is a pretty ugly sculpt, but it's also a super easy and common kitbash. So a new generic scar vet on his own seems like it'd be rather a let down and not really create a whole lot of hype.

And, if nothing else we should get a named hero simply because we only have 1 named hero and like 14 unnamed ones. Give us some actual characters that can have stories already.

Don’t know if they’d do a named character on a Cold One. As much as I’d love it, I think a named character suits something larger like a Carnosaur, Troglodon, or dare I say Dread Saurian….

You've got Kroak, isn't that enough for you?

Fyreslayers haven't got any dedicated named character models, just a named character option for a model representing a generic character (albeit on a monster), and ten unnamed heroes. Kharadron and Gloomspite each also only have one character, who have played a lot less of a part in the story than Kroak. Beastmen and Flesh Eater Courts have no named characters at all apart from their Underworlds character. Most factions have only one or two anyway, and it's only GW's favourites that manage to get three or more (Vampires, Slaanesh, Lumineth, e.t.c).

I'd rather they focused on updating all those Lizardman models they need to be made into plastic first and then focus on adding in more named characters afterwards.

Plenty of named characters on foot & minor mounts in the SCE. We can have some too :p

Nope. Especially seeing as Kroak is a deity-level character. I'd like to see some more minor stuff.

And all of those factions should get more named characters. Preferably named/generic hybrid models like Kairos/LoC or the mounted Lord Arcanums. Makes it easier to expand the lore for that faction.

Meh, while say new saurus models would be great and all I'm not exactly eager to go and paint 60 new ones to replace my existing army. And that kind holds for most of the army. As for the resin models, they're either at least decent-ish looking (e.g. the slann looks fine), or they're easy enough to kitbash or find a better looking 3th party model.

So I'd rather have a mix of both. Or at the very least a named/generic hybrid model if all we're getting is an updated scar-vet on cold one or something equally underwhelming.
