@Bowser, Awesome! I see you are a Koopa of taste. I haven't necessarily watched every one of those cartoons, but I know most of them. That does bring back some great memories of Saturday mornings or weekdays after school.

I practically lived for Transformers, He-Man, GI Joe, and Thundercats as a kid (and slavishly bought many of the toys). Saturday morning was MY day because I could actually control the TV.

So many other memorable cartoons on this list, but I want to give a shout out to Pirates of Darkwater as well. Looking back in the thread, I don't think anyone else mentioned it before @Bowser. A really interesting world and art design with a host of colorful characters (literally and figuratively). Plus, a classic and fun hero/adventure quest story too. If I didn't practically know that studios today would butcher it, I'd almost like to see a reboot.

For anyone who likes Batman the Animated Series, I suggest watching the old Fleischer Superman cartoons. They're fairly short and simple stories, almost like watching an animated radio show, but the animation is really nice (some episodes may not be very politically correct today).

That is a gorgeous show. I do love the fact that the cops run around with Tommy guns!
It is awesome, add robotics to dinosaurs and ride them into battle, and the toys line was amazing too!

The only possible competition in my mind is Raven (and Bodger and Badger, but that was a comedy not a game show), but it arose more toward the late 90s-2000s (just in time for me to arrive into the world :D) and pretty much became Knightmare's successor. I only saw Knightmare later on in my college years when Challenge (in its last years of goodness before it became the monotonous Chase-obsessed shell it is today) showed the first few series at weekends, and I can certainly say it's the best 80s-early 90s children's show I've seen.

When I was quite young (6-7 ish) I got the 'First Collection' of Rescue Rangers on DVD, but have only got round to watching them very recently. Not bad, though not as good as the original Chip and Dale cartoons where the chipmunks spend all their time winding up Mickey Mouse, Pluto and Donald Duck. I'll still save it for any descendants I may have in the next decade or two to watch and enjoy.

I'm sure I actually somehow got a video cassette of this when I was very young and was captivated by it, and I started wondering how I could fit harnesses and guns onto the backs of my (extensive) collection of toy dinosaurs. It disappeared at some point though, maybe it wasn't in such good nick (it was second-hand when it fell into my possession) and my parents probably donated it to charity. I'll probably never know, but I still hold it in high regard because of the impression it had on me.

And @Bowser I too experienced some of the delights of Canadian TV productions, pretty much entirely Nelvana creations:

A bit after your time, perhaps, but still testament to Canada's ability at that time to make good shows.

Oh right how could I forget Red Wall, with so much discussion about otter people I read yesterday! And Rupert, completely forgot about him, but I watched that a bit too.
