im of the opinion that endless spells should be free. most of them are no better then a standard spell (some are much much worse) and we don't pay for those. the only ES we se in play are life swarm which just got worse and bridge. as is i don't think many of the endless spells will see much play, not when a bunch of armys just have better tech for free
by lore is "logical", but poor skinks, if before the died fast now with bounty hunters XDDD, and the salamander still give 1VP
So, Coalesced now no longer have any allegiance ability that actually works as it is written in the tome? Clearly the best designed faction ever to be put into a tome. Also, removing it from Slann seems a bit odd. Imho, the entire magic system needs a rework. Most spells are boring. The rule of one gets in the way of interesting builds. The god wizards keep breaking the general system, while (unbuffed) "regular"wizards are barely relevant. And endless spells are largely irrelevant outside of very specific builds that try to abuse a specific gimmick to it's maximum potential (e.g. the new purple sun is probably only going to be used in nighthaunt armies)
Rip 30x coalesced builds. Other than that nothing much has changed. It is funny to see razordons going up in price on top of this nerf. Flyers are also buried futher. Slann, heroes and salles - we just need to be more careful with them. Kroak also takes a hit. Another weird change.
I am worried a bit by this change. Not the Skinks part, I didn't plan on using them much in this season, but Kroak looked to be really important for the next 6 months. Improved Endless Spells he can easily cast, he wants to be somewhat near melee where he can pick engagements for that anti-horde attack number, and the Guards that follow him also got buffed with 2 rows of attacking. Now though, he gets really soft without Scaly Skin. The other things smelling really good are 5 Knights + 3 Rippers in the Veterans hunting battalion. 30 warriors do obscene damage in the land of imagination, with two front rows of 10 all attacking with clubs + bites with reroll 1's to hit, MW's on 6's to wound. Overall, thoughts on the new season meta, any sexy ideas?
Now that we have the rules settled, I'm interested in exploring some KC lists personally. It's nice that we can run saurus warrior and temple guard units as our veterans without fear of them getting completely blown out by opposing bounty hunters!
"Really soft" is a huge exaggeration. At the end of the day we were head and shoulders the best book in the game and made it through a set of MASSIVE changes with barely a slap on the wrist. it's good to be cold blooded.
Looks like they finally wised up to the fact that skinks are supposed to be sword fodder levies and not an elite phalanx. Still, it's annoying that Saurus are still as squishy as ever against single-damage attacks.
I'm really surprised they didn't nerf us harder. I was fully expecting Scaly Skin to go away. We got off pretty easy I'd say. Starborne also got left untouched and was still a really good army before, it just didn't see as much play because of TL. I think we're still gonna be a top tier army.
Tbf making only work for saurus kroxigor and monsters is a pretty heavy nerf. Slann are squishing now and Skink heroes are now paper thin
True but that was also most of our units anyway. Slann has saurus Guard. Skink heroes are often in the realm shaper or in cover anyway. Regular skinks can easily be pivoted to knights. It, generally speaking, isn't affecting much of our units in practice anyway. It just makes a couple of our support heroes as vulnerable as most other armies are now.
I know. And I also know that the removal of scaly skin for anything but saurus monster and krox is for the best and is the best possible outcome we could of asked for in regards to scaly skin
I was personally expecting them to change it to a 6+ ward, mostly because of them decreasing the AB cost. Now that we know that isn't the case, it's bit confusing that they lowered it... Lol
Scaly Skin to be a 6++ ward would overlap with both the primeval domain and the aura of the AB, makes sense to me why GW didn't go down that road. I am extremely hyped for the GHB changes, but I'm having choice paralysis. Feels weird to be drifting in limbo in face of a potentially new meta and style of gameplay. Will there be 3x5 MSU Veterans fearing Bounty Hunters and big monsters still stomping about? Will 2x30/60 things be the norm? Do I go 2x30 Warriors and have them melt away to anything, or will they do the amazing damage Statshammer tells me they can pull off? Is Kroak + 2x Starpriest + Gnashing Jaws + Shards do insane mortals? So many questions, so little time to playtest everything.
I mean, even with Scaly skin Skink heroes died when you looked at them funny... Really wish they'd do something about that. The best possible outcome would've been a rework into a better mechanic
Yeah, seraphon will still be very competitive and several other top lists took a hit (dragons, raptors, living city, bounty batt). This was a gentle touch, and thats coming from someone who played 60 skinks in TL. We'll see how things shake out but Im confident we will land on our feet.
