Pretty great change in my opinion. The spell is still great value at 90 points, but the 1" kill range means there's now a lot more room for counterplay in that good screen positioning can save your big models from getting hurt.
https://www.warhammer-community.com...ty-apart-in-battletome-disciples-of-tzeentch/ The Architect of Fate likes to help things along by getting his metaphysical hands dirty. He has recently acquired the Codex Astromantica, a relic of the Old Ones that maps the Geomantic Web – the mystical foundations of the Mortal Realms. Unfortunately for the Changer of the Ways, this is a surefire way of drawing the ire of the Lumineth Realm-lords – sanctimonious stewards that they are – as well as the cold and calculating minds of the Slann, and the starhosts they command. Seems as we are part of the tzeench battletome lore
https://www.warhammer-community.com...-of-the-gnarlwoods-illusive-chameleon-skinks/ Not sure how I feel about them honestly. +... No frogi hat.
I'm okay with them. I think GW has pivoted to slightly more "serious" sculpts in AoS/40K. I will be exciting if there are various other chameleons or Seraphon.
I woudn't say the frog straps/hats were less serious, they basically covered themselves in poisonous animals to use as toxin supplies to put in their ammo. At least that was always my interpretation. I prefer that to chaos-like spines we are seeing in the warcry sculpts. But then again I suppose it makes sense that they would mutate slightly due to the chaotic elements surrounding the jungle scene.
They're cool, but somehow underwhelming. The first new Seraphon models in a while and they're... just Chameleon skinks. I guess I was expecting something a little more interesting seeing as Warcry warbands are generally quite detailed for their size, as well as having quite a bit of diversity within a single kit. At least from what we've seen so far, these guys look pretty similar to one another.
We have 3 - 5 more minis to come depending on what size they are so fingers crossed they get something else interesting.
Ah right spines in that sense. Both of them got them along their jaws by the way. I doubt it's supposed to be a chaos mutation. I suspect it's just an additional detail to try and break up model a little bit and make it a bit more interesting. Plus, horns on lizards aren't exactly the weirdest of things.
I don't want to come across as elitist in regard to traditional lizardmen looks and stuff but eh bothers me but I suppose I can chop them off.
You know, I can see your point. The War Cry and Underworlds models are typically more unique and detailed. Maybe that means these two chameleon skinks are just "grunts" and the fancier models are yet to come?
I wouldn't bet on saurus, they said in the lore that saurus spawning pools were broken. Perhaps a kroxygor ?
Why am I not surprised by this new lore development? GW seem to hate Saurus and love Skinks more than ever in the AoS era, so they're doing all they can to encourage Skink armies as much as possible
