I mean, I saw a skink on the side of a platform covered in tusks and hanging vines, I would call that a slann!
I agree that it is certainly a new Slann model. Check out the far left of the image. That looks VERY much like a Skink attendant of a Slann's palanquin. The rest of the images show horns with vines hanging off as others have said.
Seems like the new GHB point changes are leaked and interesting for us. I have no idea if it makes them close to worth taking, but the Starblood stalkers dropping to 200 feels pretty good given the base priest is 120. Hunters of Huanchi dropping by 5 points is also pretty nice, it means you’re paying even less for their bonuses over base chameleons
I like seeing the stalkers drop. We had a bit of a breakdown of what they do and don't bring to the table over here. Excited to see where the new GHB takes us! (I'll take the bad with the good on it)
I think you could be right. Check out this screenshot I managed to catch. If you look to the far right of the image, you see that the tail splits at the end. It could be the "split fan" rumor image you show. Or... could it be a new Trogoldon? Maybe the Carno/Trog kit could be up for replacement? I doubt that, but I thought I'd point it out. Based on the silhouette design, I guess it might be a Dilophosaurus-type dinosaur. Not to knock it, but do we need MORE units? Lol.
I bet my local Store manager is bracing himself for when I eventually come crashing in to scream about these new silhouettes Would be neat for the mounted one to be a Skink, well the shape seems to tell. A while back I made a Skink on Cold One that is actually standing and the Cold One having a feathered crown decoration. It would mean I would paint to match those Spawning colours I went with for that. The Saurus be looking more unit-based to me, hopefully they keep it on the minimum side of things, don't overload it too much decor, keep that to the Guard. Unless they try to make them look a bit more like the art seen in the book.
Every army I play, the leaked points changes make sense. They might be over-doing it or a soft touch, but the directions make sense. Except Seraphon. Every single time we get points updates, I have to just sit back and wonder if anyone at GW has even read our book or any tournament lists. Engine of the gods +15 -Fair enough General reduction of points ending in 5 -dont agree with it but fine. Salamanders +10 -can someone please realize the issue is our lack of other sources for rend, not this scroll being too good? Eternity Warden +5 -you are smoking something, hes the worst unit in the book. Scar-Vet Carno getting a bigger reduction than the Oldblood Carno. -just....what? Scar vet was good for his points, he was fine, you saw him on occasion. The oldblood you never see, because he is basically a side-grade who was 35 points more. Why is there now 40 points between them? The cherry on top is the Terrawings points delta just flat being incorrect (they were 75 not 85), and saurus warriors being almost the same points as regular humans is just super lore accurate.
Yeah, most of our changes make little sense. Not counting a further increase of points for starpriest and slann. Do they know a starpriest is not a vampire lord and the slann is still a sitting duck for anything outside the hero phase?
Sure those are probably unwarrented, but I at least can see why they would make those changes. I can't see any reason beyond simply not knowing the rules to raise the Eternity Warden
At this point, they need to fold the Eternal Star/Temple Host warscroll battalions into the Eternity Warden's warscroll by default, and that's just a start - we have too many early faction unit synergies tied up in things we cannot use in matched play.
I always thought a "Rage of the Protector" rule where he goes berserk if the slann dies would be cool. Hopefully saurus heroes in general get a glow up in the new book
I already cut endless spells from my lists to pay for the last price hikes. If these rumors are true i guess Ill cut my guard and hope the champions rule is enough to keep my slann alive. The balance team is really doing a horrible job.
I hear you. But I wonder if we have just a few too many warscrolls to make everything balanced and playable. I know we don't have anywhere near as many units as SCE, but their book is a good example of this. Meaning certain units have decent (maybe balanced?) scrolls, but there's just better options. The teaser video makes it look like we might get at least a new hero if not a new unit; some think the mounted image could be part of a unit of Skink cavalry (basically Tichi-Huichi's Raiders).
Can anyone tell me how I actually get the Hunters of Huanchi? It seems like there is no way to buy them separately, is that right?
At the moment, they're only available via the Sundered Fate Warcry box set alongside a Tzeentchian cult.
I'm not convinced it's the number of warscrolls, to be honest. As a faction that's reliant on synergies and has two very different types of subfaction however, the internal balance issue is specifically one where no single change affects just the intended unit or subfaction. I'd wager that either we start seeing Seraphon units being split between Coalesced and Starborn, or they do away with the distinction and break them up into further subfactions.
