Honestly, what an insane set of models. Absolutely stoked with all of them. The raptodons are better than anything I could have imagined.
Excuse me a minute... SQUUUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE Ahem. Liking them all overall, not 100% sold on the shields but are ok.
The fact that this is only the “tip of the Iceberg” and not even HALF of what awaits is the most exciting!!
Now that they updated Saurus Warriors they kind of have to update Saurus Guard and Knights too right? Unless they want to pivot riders over to skinks only with the Raptadons and discontinue the Saurus knights. And since they said there is a lot more to come I have hope for new Kroxigors and a dual Salamander/Razordon set too
New saurus, noice they look good. Nitpicky but I wish I could switch to scaled shields. (Older ones might look goofy with the detail on the new models). Hopefully we get Cold Ones, these raptors are nice but I want I'm attached to the goofraptors way more.
I'm crying like a baby, I'm too happy, they're all too beautiful. But the summer...the summer is so far away
What do we think could come then? i am surprised there isnt a skink option for the slann chair, easily converted though. i feel like the new saurus are so good they need to update cold ones and temple guard unless cold ones are replaced by the raptors. Additionally the new shields could lead to new skinks so they are all in line? However I think if anything is left it will be the skinks as they hold up better than the resin/saurus stuff looks like im holding off getting more seraphon till the summer
I'm quite pleased with what we've seen of these new models so far, they look great! =D I figured the earlier previews hinted at a new skink hero, so I was surprised when it turnout out to be two new skink cavalry units instead. My initial though was that these could risk our flyers strugging even more than they already do to find a spot in our army lists, but now I'm wondering if they could be replacing our Saurus Knights entirely? As long as the Raptadons themselves pack a punch, they could easily fill the same role. If Saurus become stronger on their own, I could be fine with that. Anyways, looking forward to what else they have in store for us, and my empty wallet once it is all released ^^
It’s weird because the Hunters of Huanchi have the new shape and style of shield while still being mostly made of scales like the old ones (with the exception of Huanchi’s Claws who have shields that channel the new magitek aesthetic instead), but the skink riders have entierly magitek shields like the new saurus do
All of it looking amazing. I am sooooo stealing the glowing blue colorscheme for my Saurus Warriors. (If they get rules to be at least useable, lol). Also interesting what will be done to really differentiate Terradons, Ripperdactyls and the new Skink Riders.
Could still happen, We do know Saurus can still take spears since you can see the spearshaft in one of the images but they didn't actually show them there could be other options they didn't show us yet like a Skink priest option for the Slann kit. Maybe with this rumour engine?
But they also both have different designs for the chameleon skinks so I wouldn't read too much into those two.
I have a feeling the Saurus may be a dual kit for warriors/guard. If you go by the Carnosaur kit you can easily add armor to make the Oldblood, so it’s likely possible. The raptadon are meant to fill roles like ripper/terradon, I don’t think they’ll drop cold ones. I think we’ll see a full Saurus range refresh for summer. My final hopes are an updated Kroxigor and maybe one more new unit, wouldn’t hurt to have a little more diversity! Maybe wild dinosaurs? Could suit coalesced. Just my two cents.
It definitely raises some interesting questions. This dual kit means we've got 3 different kinds of 5-man cavalry units on top of 2 types of flyer. I'm curious to see how/if they're able to carve out a role for each unit. It's clear the raptodons have a ranged and a melee version. Likewise, terradons are ranged and rippers are melee. I'd imagine they're maybe a little softer and a little less killy than raptodons as a trade-off for being able to fly. That leaves knights. My hope is that they are given a new, beefier model that cements their role as heavy cavalry in contrast to the raptodons as skirmish cavalry. Could we see Knights switch to units of 3, with bigger bases and 4-5 wounds? This would be cool, but I can see it upsetting a lot of people who spent time and money on their old Knights.
