I'm fairly certain dawi don't really make such a distinction, be it in the Old World or in the Mortal Realms. They're already pretty litigious and miserly as is.

So we get regiments of renown, but they don't appear to have any special rules?

Anyone know what's up with this?

Ah, I misread, thought the runesmith's ability was a normal ability, didn't notice it included his name.

If anyone wants to get reliably consistent and cost-effective priming sprays they should buy an airbrush, not a spray primer.

Prime any time you need, in all the colours you can think of (including white), and in much higher quality. A cheap airbrush kit won't be more than 100€, and if you want to get slightly fancier and add the primer (15€) on top of that call it 150€. That 15€ airbrush primer will be equivalent to 3 or 4 spray cans. By the time you get to your second bottle, the airbrush will already be paid for. If you take into account varnishing as well one bottle will be enough.

I know it sounds like a lot of money, but it's honestly the best investment you can make (you could compare it to a 3d printer, but instead of increasing your pile of shame it helps decrease it).

I said prices in € because that's what I know, but I would imagine the price ratios are similar in other currencies. To start airbrushing you just need a compressor with air tank (~60-80€), a hose (10€) and a cheap airbrush (~20-30€). It's especially easy now with amazon.

On another note, I'm also reconsidering buying the new lizards. This latest price hike made me consider a 3D printer for the first time .

That is true, I actually have an airbrush which has helped get through a lot of the bulk basing for my Tyranids. Shaved off so many hours with it, just need to get more airbrush paint, I do have the thinner but have yet to nail the recipe down. Also because I have a poseable T-rex figure I need to paint but would rather airbrush it. I find myself not airbrushing much as I don't have suitable space yet apart from the shed that is kind of falling down but it's a bit cold to airbrush or prime stuff at the moment.
Will have to write that down on the to-buy list, thank you I keep forgetting the airbrush exists sometimes, especially the primers for it.

Got to like how the Skinks are a nod to the old metal version.
Enjoying this version of Salamander more

Wow! What a great new Salamander model! The frills on the side of the Salamander's head look a little silly to me. I would have rather seen "dilophosaurus-style" frills. Plus, it's bit more static than I assumed GW would make it, but honestly it's very cool.

However, I'm not a fan of the new lore description. Apparently, the Skink Handlers implant Old One tech into the head of the Sallie, turning them into laser-guided mortars. In melee, the Handlers might have to feed them "emberstone" for combat? GW is leaning in harder to the ancient space tech theme. On the other hand, GW might be making Handlers more necessary?

Sadly, Sallies don't hit as well anymore (we knew that couldn't last). They still have -2 Rend, and their attack helps other combat. But they might have lost Mortal Wounds?

I like that too. Plus, this should make it easier to turn the head Handler into a Skink Standard Bearer.

neat models, not a fan of the handlers sticking around with how awkward they make the unit profile, and having a handler with a fancy banner, and presumably a fancy effect, doesn't seem like a great idea.

Also, the new profile for the Salamander's ranged attack just seems terrible; with only 1 attack you're regularly going to see turns where all your attacks miss, but with it's impressive wound, rend & damage values it'll be pretty powerfull with even minor buffs. Would've prefered a flatter damage curve.

Guess we'll see, but the rules shown so far for our "new" stuff hasn't been terribly impressive.
