New models are all looking awesome! But am I the only one who's concerned about the new Salamander weapon profile? One attack at 4+, and the debuff goes off only if wounds are allocated? Unless there's more attacks on the warscroll that's a pretty pathetic attack...
Interesting that it’s seemingly not a razordon dual kit (although maybe it is?) I think the weird crests are kind of fun though, seems like a reference to the very old salamander handlers where one of them had a crest like that even though the rest were normal. It makes sense, we’ve always had stuff like cold one riders who’re supposed to have different legs marking their duties, and this marks out the handlers in a similar unique way
Honestly, I'll take the ancient magic space tech over the really stupid "celestial daemons of order" shtick they initially tried to push for Seraphon as a whole. It's a hell of a lot more befitting of the faction's theme.
I was okay with the celestial demons, so long as it was exclusive to the summoned models. I liked the idea of the Slann creating magical constructs of deceased allies to fight alongside the living against chaos.
I can see that profile being in addition to the previous 12" 4 attacks profile we currently have, similar to Kruel Boys crossbows. GW works in mysterious ways, but releasing a new model to give it a gimmick whilst hitting it hard with the nerf bat seems a bit crazy even for them.
Looking at the salamander I thought about what a possible dualkit with spinodonts could look like. If you remove the crested back and the crested "forehead", the ugly gills and the fin on the tail, and replace them with spikes you get a spinodont. Of course it would be a kit full of bits and perhaps much more expensive than the nurgle beasts, but never say never, after all they haven't shown yet the Saurus with spear...
Genuinely, unless they are nerfing sallies into the ground, that would have to be an additional profile. Going from dealing approximately 1.4 wounds per shooting phase to 0.4 is a huge drop even with the added -1 to save gimmick.
What characters do we think we will see return to the setting model wise for lizzies anyway? Or are we likely not to get any, I suppose alot of order factions only have 1 or even 0. Soulblight has loads while flesheaters gets none for instance.
I kind of suspect we'll get Tehenhauin or some kind of prophet of sotek skink unit that's basically him, though that's mostly just because it seems like an easy fit and you could throw him either on foot or with a big dino without much hassle. It's not really the same but I do think the battletome will hint at or mention some characters returning no matter what, though, just because it's in line with how other 3.0 tomes have been including stuff people have been asking for or about forever. The question of what happened to all those surviving WHF characters is something that seems like it's easy enough to hint at an answer for (something like "with the return of kragnos kroak is awakening the oldest seraphon warriors from stasis, including the first sunblood [kroq-gar]") without having to comit to anything
What kind of 3.0 stuff have people asked for and received then, I really don't keep up with too much AoS wise. My lore knowledge goes as far as the 1st edition stuff, Soul Wars Novel and as of today Gloomspite Novel. Other than that I just gleam into the lore from the trailers and community pages. I think it would be neat if 'Oldblood on Carnosaur' became Kroq'Gar again and Tiq'taq'to use the terradon customized pieces to make said charecter. Otherwise I'd *WANT* versions of all of our charecters but I suppose they've sort of being replaced in function with generic titles. Kinda like how Deathmaster Sniktch became 'Deathmaster' and got a completely new mini to represent it's originality as a new thing.
