Beginning a new Homebrew faction project, inspired by the Goroan Scion lore recently released. Eventually I'll be making my own custom rules for them, but for now I'm using Mawtribes + Kragnos rulesets

A custom desteuction faction with what I'm calling "The Lost Races" (not as the faction name, just in general), basically races which the majority fell to chaos but still have / may have some pockets of resistance.

Goroans are my main troops, but I'm also adding in some BoC, and other Ogroid races, and a Dragon Shaggoth which broke from their own curse/pact with Chaos which leads them.

It's a faction based on these people's fighting against chaos to free the rest of their kin, in a nutshell.

More to come before painting, needs more clean up as well

Thank you! I am working on some lore now, hoping to be able to pick up a Thaumaturage soon. Need some bits from an Ironjawz hero for my kitbash Idea though, so, we'll get there eventually lol

What is a new year without a new homebrew faction ;)

Great stuff as always, both kitbash-wise as lore-wise. Looking forward to your progress, and some completed models.

    Love your work friend

That's how I feel!! Every year needs a new faction, but more importantly...every year needs a completed project, so I'm working on that this year. Lol.

I have two main goals this year, hobbywise: Complete this homebrew army idea, and Complete my Stormcast Skaventide box half. I'd like to finish a few other projects, but these are the two I'm going to be focusing on really finishing. 2025 is going to be a different hobby year, and just year in general for me - I'm feeling a fire i haven't felt in a long time, so here is to hoping it keeps burning.

Been enjoying seeing your stuff on IG and the little bit I poked around and saw on here.

As you say, Love your work friend!

Here is to two great hobby (and regular) years for us, friend!

This should keep you busy in the new year!

How big do you think the faction will be when finished?

    I hope so!

As of now, I have a list of 2000 points (as Ogor Mawtribes) that uses different models. Most I already have (the BoC portion). That said, I'd like to kitbash at least one large monster from a fresh space. I'm kitbashing a lot of stuff, but I'd like to kitbash a monster of some sort specifically.

So, in all, I am planning a full "release" per say, and then I'd like to add more unique things after this initial 2k list is made.

This was my original list that I made right before beginning the project. It's changed a slight bit (Bullgors are now Gorger Mawpack instead of Yehtis). I think i want to make some sort of Yehti like monster to represent them (some wild monster, not necessarily a Yehti) and then a larger monster version of that, possibly. But obviously not Ogor themed, so probably not a snow themed monster.

    Army List - Mawtribes Ruleset
    Enemy: The Celestial Clatter Stormhost

Kuugax army will consist of Gorans (Theridons), Beasts of Chaos, and Ogors primarily.

    Homebrew Model / Mawtribe Equiv

    Heroes -

    1. Kuugax: 130mm Base, Kragnos/M. Gargant (580)

    2. Myrmadin: 50mm, Tyrant (180)

    Infantry -

    Theridons: 50mm, Maneaters (160)

    Cavalry -

    Mournfang Pack with Theridons: 90mm x 52mm, Mournfang Pack (x2, 400)

    Beast -

    Bullgor: 50mm, Yehtee (x2, 240)

    Monster -

    Thundertusk Giant: 120mm x 92mm, Thundertusk Beastriders (220)

    War Machine:

    Cygor: 120mm x 92mm, Ironblaster (220)

Faction Terrain: Same as Mawtribes (change eventually)

Hey everyone! Small update here, hope you're all doing well!

I've been doing some hobbying, haven't gotten as much done as I'd like, but we'll get there. I've been working mostly on the homebrew project I originally posted about, working on the Goroan Warcaller specifically

    -nvney5.jpg .

I've made really good progress on them, and really could call them done, but there are still parts of the gold that need to be done, and other touch ups. I have the unit leader of the Goroan Veterans primed, but haven't started them yet, I'm excited though! I am hoping to have the whole group finished by the end of march/first week of April (I'll be gone for a week in March in Colorado where I won't be able to paint them). After that we shall see what I decide to paint next!

Other than the homebrew project, I got an itch for my Seraphon again. I had been working on a "Ark of Chotec" last year that I slowed down on but picked up again and got it to a good spot. It is crewed by 3 skinks, one which is the controller while the other two hurl javelins. Still working on its lore, but we're getting there. Other thing to decide is keeping it on the bastiladon vs being pulled by a Spawn of Chotec, hmmm. Screenshot_20250228_221528_Gallery.jpg

Other Seraphon fun is a new Sacred Spawn idea I've had but finally acted on. I have a lot of spare saurus bodies and some Terradon bodies... this is the byproduct: 20250228_002531.jpg 20250228_002453.jpg

I don't have a name or any lore for them yet, but I think its a fun idea. I'm making a unit of 5 for my Guard unit. Any ideas or thoughts for a name or lore, let me know! I'm still brainstorming

All in all, a lot of fun stuff coming along, just slowly.

    Crested Guard No. 2

Not the best GS work on the shield arm, but it'll do! I think a full unit is going to be awesome, and I have just enough spears :) 20250302_130503.jpg 20250302_130508.jpg 20250302_130512.jpg 20250302_130503.jpg 20250302_130508.jpg 20250302_130512.jpg

I love this idea so much, it works really good! Crested Guard is a fitting name.
A full unit of these will look amazing!

Have you got any lore for these guys already?
Somehow I thought about wing clipped Terradons, in some form of punishment or a secret taskforce.

    Just some thoughts ;)

    Keep up the great work.

    Hey man!

Thank you, I too am loving how they are coming out. I was already thinking about it, but it was mentioned on my IG about then needing a little extra something. So, I may add a few adornments to them, possibly hanging from the crests themselves, though, the leader wouldn't have these as they are already primed.

I haven't come to any concrete lore idea yet, other than that they are a new Spawn that has spawned in direct relation to the Hour of Ruin and the Skaven invasion of the Mortal Realms. I was and am Fiddling with the idea of them being a Sacred Spawn of sorts, however one that no one can figure out, or if it's multiple, if I do indeed go the sacred Spawn route. As the author I know the Old Ones they'd be blessed by of course: Tepok, Itzl, and Sotek - The Mystic, the Beast, and the Warrior. Color scheme reflecting these Old Ones: Purple body and scales (like my Tepok Blessed Saurus), with a red head that fades to orange... or that's how I have it in my head right now.

So, definitely a unique Saurus sub species - origins uncertain (for now). I had this vision of them being spawned in long forgotten/or long since working spawning pools deep within the jungles, and them breaching the jungle line and arriving to Temple Cities across the Realms unannounced

Definitely still thinking about it. Your idea of terradons being morphed or otherwise punished into a land form is interesting. It would fit really well into my narrative/homebrew of my Seraphon being master Bioengineers and finding new ways to better fight the threats ahead of them.

Crested Guard will be their common name, their species name is definitely Tauradons ;)

Hey everyone! Tis the end of March, so figured it was time for an update, even if a small one

The Crested Guard are moving forward, even if slowly. I've finished building the Banner and can now go ahead and begin the GS work to actually have the Tauradon finished.

I also began, and got to a good point with the leader while in Colorado on vacation. I'm really loving the colors, still wanting to build up more reds a bit on the head vs the darker pinks

The Crested Guard have spawned in direct response to the Hour of Ruin and the rise of the Great Horned rat. Ahead they March with the Saurus generals, their unmatched eye sight spotting traps and would be assassin's from afar just as an eagle spots a mouse...

    More to come...!

Today is also my spawning day, so felt appreciate to share these new spawns! 20250325_135856.jpg 20250325_135811.jpg 20250314_134841.jpg

Brought back out the "Throne of Itzl" and beginning to piece together how I want everything to look.

Began this project a year or two ago, but both got distracted and couldn't iron out how I wanted the Seer to look. I think I have a better idea now of how I want the seer now. Being dedicated to Itzl, the Old One of Beasts, I am hoping to them them a bit more "wild" than other Seers, but still keep that Seer presence about em. Not 100% sure how I'll achieve that, but tis the vision in in my head.

Need to finish the Palaquin also, but that's a bit minor compared!

Also working to finish my Saurus Warriors of Tepok! Mostly what's left are the weapons, metallics, mouth areas, and bases to finish. Other details beyond that to push them, but yeah! Looking pretty solid so far

I am going to my LGS and will be playing with my miniatures for the first time with OPR (One Page Rules)! Pretry stoked, bringing some Saurians to battle, so that is a big part as to why I am now finishing these Saurus Warriors (better late than never!) as they are the last thing for me to finish for my list for the game.

More to come, including more Crested Guard! 20250331_233448.jpg 20250331_233436.jpg 20250331_220726.jpg

Hey everyone, hope you're doing well!

I am doing pretty well, all things considered going on in my country and just daily life in general. I am finished with school this weekend, so I am pretty pumped for that. It's been a good semester, but I'm ready to be done for this semester and get into Summer and whatever it holds.

But now for what everyone is here for... Miniatures and progress!

I've been a little busy working on some past projects to either finish them or get them almost finished. A big push (which we all know I can use, ha) to finish these is that I played my first tabletop game last Thursday! It was so much fun. I ended up playing One Page Rules (OPR) and brought my Saurians/Lizardmen/Seraphon, and I went up against Vampire Counts. The list I brought consisted of a Skink Priest, Kroxigor Veteran, Saurus Warriors (10), Kroxigor (3), and one of my Bastiladons. It was truly a blast and I'm excited for next Thursday (we meet Bi-weekly on Thursdays), not sure i can get another game in before school is done, sadly. In the end my first game came out to a draw due to victory points, but it's safe to say I obliterated my opponents actual army of undead horrors. It was great fun!

That kinda put some gas in my engine to work on some stuff I'm hoping to have done before next Thursday: My Spawn of Chotec and my Skink Variation of a Carnosaur, both of which were began last year (at minimum).

I had gotten back to my Salamander and crew first, as I had actually brought them to OPR night, but never used my second list (learning and playing the first game took most of the night/conversations going on, hoping for more next time). So, I added it to this list for next week to include it for sure. The Salamander and the lead skink were already done essentially, so I began the other skinks which were only partially started, but primarily still black primer. I decided to do them *slightly* different from the lead skink. Instead of doing all white with a dirty look for the underbelly I decided on Jakaro Orange for most of the bodies base, minus the scales and where I had already began the white prior last year (or whenever). The scales I did a very light dry-wet brush over the black scales with wild rider red, giving a kind of burning coal look. Also making the membrane on their frill ultra bright with bright oranges and Cassandra Yellow to finish off the membranes. The gold is just retribution gold, though I may still add more to it, such as some silver and a wash, but do like the pure gold look on the weapon and back armor. For the weapon I used gold and The Fang/Russ Grey to give a gold and Slate look, which I think came out pretty well. The bag of goodies I used Steel Legion Dust or whatever, the rocks themselves being scar white washed over with Cassadora Yellow to give them a fire/glowy vibe. All in all, I'm really proud of how these have come out and will fully finish them sometime in the next week.

For the Skink Variation of a Carnosaur, this project was definitely began possibly two years ago, I'm honestly not sure. I had a fun name for the dinosaur too, I'll have to search through my posts to find its official name again lol anyway! Brought this beautiful back out, dusted, and then placed back on the painting table. They have always been intended to be one of/the leader of my Skink lead themed army. But I wanted something that felt more physically intimidating like the Saurus and Carnosaur vs the Oracle and Troglodon (don't get me wrong, I love the Troglodon, but it doesn't scream the same power as Carnosaur to me for whatever reason). So that's how the wargear was created, to add to the carnage and physical intimidating. For this model it's been a lot of iconography work, using lots of blues and Sotek Green to continue the vibe I was going for, a river/oasis/marsh dweller of primarily deserts and surrounding areas. I've also been adding a little more normal paint to the contrast used originally, building up primarily the Burgundy (I don't plan to really touch the white parts, and am debating on touching the tan/sandy looking areas). I still need to finish the skinks which ride the creature, a Skink Chief and their 3 followers, mainly detail and metallic work needs to be finished for them.

All in all, a lot of great progress on both of these older models, and happy to be seeing them inch closer and closer, as they deserve.

Any thoughts are always welcome :)

    Have a great day everyone
