Having perused the book at a friend's place, the only thing I'm not a fan of is relying on pictograms to find out which skill or trait is in which category, as they're just listed alphabetically as a whole. The previous edition went through the trouble of organizing them based on what category they were.
I'm subscribed to Bar0n just haven't watched his videos yet. A lot of the book is the same, but it's finding all those little differences that's fun. The pictograms are a bit annoying at first, but when bbroster gets updated, and currently using deathpitch app, which is still working out some of the changes, I find the alphabetical makes it easy to find when I need the wording.
Chart reference or no, the physical rulebook still has a botched layout for skill descriptions that has you constantly flipping pages just to compare them (because let's be honest: no sane person rolls for skills if they can have the option to choose instead, even on throwaway linemen). Again, I can point to the previous edition where the skills and traits had their own sections dedicated to them in the rulebook, much like for Necromunda, and virtually every skill category took up all of one page each with the sole exceptions of General skills and Traits.
A question for you gents. What are your thoughts on the riotous rookies inducement for 150k (up 50k from previous edition)? Is 2D3+1 extra journeymen worth the cost? Would a star player be a better choice?
I think situationally it's good, and definitely better for tournaments, as I think I can probably get better mileage out of say Skitter than more snotlings in a league setting., other than he's now 170,000, but you can spend a bit out of the treasury now if needed.
Is Skitter less good in a tournament setting? Speaking of Star Players, so far I think Ripper is my favorite so far. I love the model and he seems pretty strong. Halkflem looks potent too, but I don't really care for his miniature. All this from a Snotlings perspective. Of course this is based on little knowledge apart from watching a few videos and a cursory understanding of the game.
Ripper is an incredible star, no nega trait teammate thrower, and if you ever find yourself with 370k to spare he pairs well with Scrappa. Hakflem is one of the best stars in the game. He's basically the underworld version of Griff Oberwald. There's a reason he's a megastar. Skitter is a gutter runner, and a gutter runner is always a good thing to have on the team. He usually gets added to the ban lost or mega star list in many NAF tournaments. Maybe with the 20k price increase he might not be as popular. In a tournament though you could likely squeeze in both Riotous Rookies and the star player such as Skitter.
Another plus for Ripper, not being on the Mega Star list. At least for now. Having a fast player would be useful on a Snotling team I'd imagine. Because of Scrappa's special intercept rule? Or something else?
Scrappa is a Pogo with right stuff, sure feet, and sprint. That's throwing a team mate with a possible movement of 10, one turn touchdown kind of nonsense. I also hope they do another holiday special. I would like to see the red gobbo come back for the new season.
That does sound like it would work nicely with a player like Ripper. Seems like a fun combo. Is this real? That's so cool. I haven't seen this one before.
This is real, the full rules can be found here; and probably can be used as is: https://www.warhammer-community.com...was-the-night-before-grotmas-on-warhammer-tv/
Especially the random switching sides, like oops, looks like I now control your wardancer! I plan to get some use out of this soon.
