Now that I'm back from Christmas holidays, I can peruse the Great Book of Nuffle again. @- Q - On the topic of the Bombardier trait, with the exception of the On The Ball skill, any skill or trait that interacts with the Pass action can also interact with the Throw Bomb action. I also stand corrected: you can throw a bomb as far as you can throw a ball. Hence, a Bombardier is a perfect candidate to be built as an auxiliary ball thrower for the drives that they get to be on the pitch. Accurate? Cannoneer? Hail Mary Pass? Maybe Nerves of Steel? If they can take them, go for it! Violent Innovator is just a convenient way for them to rack up SPP on top of conducting Pass actions of their own. Considering Snotlings get access to up to TWO such players, with Pass skills being a Primary Skill set? You can even afford to specialize them.

That is most intriguing. I'm starting to grow fond of my little bomber Snotling. I also recently watched a Blood Bowl match on YouTube, and the Fungus Flinga caused quite the bit of carnage. Not reliably, or without self-inflicted damage, but still. It might not be any good (and you'd know much better than me), but the idea of a Hail Mary Bomb throw sounds delicious. Infinite threat range.
On paper it sounds nice, though you'll want to be mindful of the following: Fungus Flingas only start with a PA of 4+, Any Nat 1 on a pass test, or any result of 1 or less after modifiers, is a Fumble (which for bombs means it explodes next to them), and Hail Mary passes incur the -3 penalty of a Long Bomb pass to the pass test, plus can never count as being Accurate even if you either succeed on the roll or roll a Nat 6 on the test. Between increasing the Fungus Flinga's PA attribute by at least 1, gaining Violent Innovator for SPP, and getting Cannoneer for the +1 bonus modifier when throwing into the furthest two range bands (Long Pass and Long Bomb), you'd be looking at at least three advances before you can reliably commit to that kind of artillery game in Blood Bowl with them. It's not impossible to do, but as mentioned before it's a task that'd require you to have them doing things other than throwing bombs, including getting thrown down the pitch by trolls with the hopes of scoring touchdowns after landing.
You're absolutely right. Doable but very risky and not worth the investment. I think it would backfire far more often than not and only lead to a great moment every once in a blue moon. It would be funny though. Skills that increase reliability are no doubt the tactically superior choice.
