Hello boys and girls and welcome to Let's Get Motivated - January 2026

This thread is to get us motivated each month into finishing projects that we have on the go, the rules are fairly simple.

At the start of the month post what you intend to try and finish this month, it can be models/terrain/conversions of any game type. No pressure if you don't finish anything this is for motivation nothing else.

Around the middle of the month post your progress, no images please, if you have want to share your progress with images, upload them into your blog and supply a link.

Around the end of the month post your progress, again no images, if you have finished a piece upload the images into your blog and supply a link.

The reason I don't want images in this thread is too get everyone that takes part views in their personal blog where the community can critique, etc.

You don't have a paint blog? well get one started in this forum section.

If you need advice etc. post here and the community will try and answer.

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone share their progress

    Grrr, !mrahil

I've had a dedicated painting room since we moved back to Oz 12 years ago, but it was so crammed with other stuff {fridge, printer, filing cabinet, display cabinets} and I had a tiny desk that my 'artistic space' was very confined. Late last year my lovely wife and daughter contributed to a large electronic L-shaped desk to replace the tiny one I had.
My daughter had moved back in with us and space was limited so I have only recently cleared out my craft room totally (which meant the dining room was piled high with the contents).
Have finally built the desk which will give me plenty of space to paint and set up my airbrush booth and finally bite the bullet and learn to paint with an airbrush. This has probably quadrupled the desk space I now have. Also gives me the space for other craft projects simultaneously.
I need to paint a drawer cabinet I bought for all the tools, basing, flocking, terrain stuff.
Also need to build a couple of shelves and somewhere to put all the paints. I first need to work out various suitable heights for the electronic desk so that it doesn't hit the shelves as I raise or lower it. While I will probably have a couple of favourite set heights when I'm sitting and painting, I need to allow space for the odd occasion when I choose to stand.

I never realised how much stuff I had crammed into such a small room. My pile of shame is substantial having been collecting since the 80's. (Yes I'm old) I have tried to be ruthless clearing space by chucking stuff out. Mainly old GW boxes that I was keeping for sentimental value. Their contents long since built. Repurposed for various forms of storage. Some I'll keep but many have already gone. Also I never realised how many rulesets, books, and fan based ammendments for stuff, mostly GW. Folders and folders of house rules for Mordheim, Necromunda, Dungeonbowl, Bloodbowl, Man O' War, Warhammer, Frostgrave, English Civil War, Warhammer Historical (LOTHS and LOTOW), So many Warhammer army books from about version 3 onwards. A lot in boxes. Usless to anyone as is, so ideally I hope to be able to display them. And when I get the occasional "painter's block", I can pick one up, kill time and maybe find inspiration.

It might be a slow start to 2026 painting wise but hopefully it won't be much longer until I get the room set up comfortably enough.
I have also decided to try and attend a few more Bloodbowl tournaments. Unfortunately here in Oz they are a bit thin on the ground and usually some distance away, but I've already signed up for two over the next few months.

I have been taking a few photos of my craft area, before and after. Will load them in the near future.
