Hey. I've played 40k on and off for several years and decided to give Fantasy a shot. For a time, the idea of a horde army like Skaven appealed to me, but then I actually read stuff on the Lizardmen and they just seem so much COOLER! I live in the Black Hills of South Dakota, where Warhammer players, especially Fantasy gamers, are scarce. I'll have to be content with painting and reading up until I find some folks to play with. I'm getting the army book soon and then, as money allows, I'll start building up a force. Until then, I'll mostly lurk, and absorb info. --DF2K
As with most things, the best way to learn it is through doing it. However, there are just a ton of things to learn with Warhammer and a wealth of great sites like this one that can help you develop your game before you even set up for your first battle.
