Hello guys! Familiar with Warhammer, but never played Lizardmen before. I'm hoping to get a skink and Stegadon heavy army started in the next few weeks. If there's any useful links handy, hook me up. Anyway, expect to see me about. Cheers
Welcome to Lustria.... (this ought to keep ya buisy for a while) http://www.lustria-online.com/threads/8th-edition-lm-tactica-index-newest-link-march-2nd-2015.8681/ (<-- Tacticia Links)
Oh wow! Thanks a lot. I've read through the articles on the units that interest me, and was wondering whether a army mainly consisting of Stegadons and Skink skirmishers would work at 1000 points? Supported by a Slaan? I don't have the army book with me at the moment, but how would that army play out? Is it at least reasonably effective?
it would be impossible sadly The slann is too expensive to be used for 1000 pts. However skink priests are not, neither are Skink chiefs. Your leadership won't be impressive in that kinda list, but you'll be very fast moving! You're basically looking at a MSU list (many small units) to make it work, peppe things with skink shooting, and then ram it with stegs. Not what most lizard players deem competitive, but i'm not sure it'll be bad. May actually work well, and would definetly be funny. If you want to fight close combat however, you need kroxigor in skink blocks to have solid leadership for those fights, and those blocks aren't considered very strong, but that shouldn't hold you back! they still hit at str 7 ad have many bodies to go through! You need to consider a Scar vet or oldblood general, to get a goo leadership, otherwise it could work, but it wouldn' be the most competitive choice.
Welcome to the forum, I see N810 already plugged the Tactica index for me. VampTeddy is right, you need at least 1200 points to field a Slann. I think a 1500 point list with a Slann, Skinks and Steggies should do well. At 1500 points you have wiggle room to take Slann upgrades. I would recommend running Lore of Life at that points level since it goes well with Stegadons and you don't need to pay for the Wandering Deliberations or Focus of Mystery upgrade (since your Slann can't be FULLY kitted out).
