Pretty similar to Dark Elves really, once they get the hits in they can get squished pretty easily (Through my experience) Like my Cold One riders for Dark Elves, at least two die from being blasted from magic. Poor Cold Ones though. Need to see what the Lizardmen versions are like.
Dark Elf avoidance lists can be nasty too. Dark Elves have a bit more combat potential in my mind though. You're right though that they are glass hammers.
June 1997. So I have mainly 5th edn models, including skinks , warriors, skinks on cold ones, slann, salamanders. The slann has been modified to fit with 6th, 7th, 8th. All my skink commands are metal 5th.edn too.
Short story: The Bastiladon that I could convert into a Bowser. Long story my friend and I were playing castle ravenloft. He said if he is going to play with miniatures he wants better dwarfs. He used to play warhammer, wanted to play again. I was unwilling to spend any money. He went out if his way to find several different armies, buying them for cheap and trading them for others until he finally came back with a 7000 point lizardmen army that was mostly still in the box. Some of it was painted and put together. Looked through those and wasn't really impressed. I was looking at Kijiji for a cheap O&G army when he shows me the still in package stuff. I looked through it and when I saw that bastiladon box I stopped. Realized what I could do with this and the rest is history.
I actually was given some free models, from a GW store, via my school. Some of the guys in my grade petitioned and succeeded in getting Warhammer classified as an club sport, and the school would drive us to the local store every Wednesday for a semester. The store gave the group some free models each (all old school and discontinued), and I got a combo box of Saurus/Skinks. Then I was hooked (love me some Comet!)
Now that I discovered this thread, I could´t resist adding my story . It started when I was 10, actually I wasn´t yet. It happened that I was walking on the street with my parents (kinda afternoon walk) and spotted this little artshop with some models in display in the shopfront, but the store was closed. So came back next day and me and my father entered, asked about the models and the shop assistant showed us the few boxes she had, space marines and teenzch daemons. I fell in love with the space marines and I told my father I wanted some (but didn´t get them because they were super expensive ). So when my birthday came my father took me to the official GW store, and right after entering I felt like in heaven. The guy played a 40k game with me (I obviously won ) and let me paint a space marine. So after wandering around like for one hour I got the Space marine codex and the starter set. After that my dad helped me build a table for painting and I fell in love with the hobby . Then I was in holidays and went to a book shop to get something to read and saw the white dwarf (which I had never heard about) of June 2012, with an amazing artwork of a space marine. Bought it instantly and that´s how I started with WD. Then in 2013 (July I think) the new lizardmen update made me fall in love with lizardmen, also because I used to love dinosaurs as we all did , and I said "If I ever make a fantasy army it will be lizardmen". Then when we moved to Poland the same year there was a warhammer club, but it was fantasy, so I got a perfect excuse and in Christmas I got the battalion, a troglodon and the army book. Since then I have not painted a single space marine. I can´t stop with the lizzies
I don't know why*, but this brought a smile to my face! *actually I know precisely why... I don't like Space Marines!
I like dinosaurs. Also they seemed to be not that hard to paint since they wear not that much armor. And I also heard they are a synergy based army with many different options, although when I started everybody said they were somwhat weak.
Because saurus warriors looked cool. Later it was because I realized they also rode dinosaurs. And because of the Mayan history the lore pulls from, of which I am a big fan!
