    This. Is. Amazing.

I can just imagine a confused Stegadon bumbling about in the ether xp

Honestly, that new game does sound OK. Unfortunately, I am not looking to start playing a new game at this time.

Yeah. There is too much hullabaloo going around now. I'm following your lead. Time to sit and wait impatiently.

Ya I like what I see....if its is correct. But hard to believe it wouldn't be with the amount of detail, and the fact that it seems to fit what is largely known already (officially and un-officially)

My real concern is the "no write up", does that does that mean.

I think that is actually species-ist?

So I have a rules question for those sharper and more "attuned" than I.

    I have a theory.
    Siege rules maybe later?

this ...does look like this could be skirmish war of the ring. (where I always thought they were "eventually" going.)

I know I know he said no 2 editions but is it possible a "siege" expansion? That is not really a new edition and might not be mentioned in the original set rules. Basing it of the loosely on the war of the ring system"

....to those more competetant than I; Would that make since??(Other than just being wild speculation.)

Do you play War of the Ring?

If so, how does the basic turn sequence of that game work?

In a good way or a bad way?

I thought the funniest bit was the requirement [ ! ] to change the tables from square to round.

Don't remember perfectly but it seemed to incomplete to access how a larger unit variant might work, essentially were talking comparing fellowship of the ring skirmish's relationship to war of the ring to this thing and the this thing seige(war of the ring like), so us who knows....hence the term "wild speculation" and the combined Melee I think was a part of war of the ring. Add to that I think the rules wernt the real focus of the rumour so I'm not sure how serious I would take that part of the rumour, also a seige...."wild speculation"

I honestly don't think the mechanics described for AoS are true. If so, it would mean you can only field one big unit of 5-15 guys or so. This would mean tons of miniature spares (so ebay sales), and new players only buy 1 box of (say, skinks) instead of 4. Doesn't make sense no matter how you put it.

I think the skirmish game (which is not called skirmish but something else) is optional.

Well "if" the guy had an hour to look at the rule set, I know I would find it difficult to put anything intelegible about the actual rules system with all the other ...well documented details. So ya rules wise ...ifffy

And well also technically it is a rumor.(but really a pretty credible one, based on the details which seems to fit...which is hard to falsify)

I was thinking that maybe one small part the single melee phase might mean that down the road ...at a larger scale...they might go with a war of the ring type system...

but ya kinda crap shoot based on the little we have.

I really liked war of the ring I played it, back when worked in that business and ... loved it...I thought it worked better ..much more smoothly than fantasy.

But once I left, that was years ago. after that I never really had a chance to play it, so I finally gave up and tossed my rule book.

I was hoping someone more up to date(on the war of the ring system) could tell me if some of the similarity I saw, in the admittedly weak descriptions, might mean they were moving to similar to war of the ring.

I admit I have not played WOR for a very long time.

In addition to Lizardmen (the second lizardmen army ..i sold my first)Fantasy I also play: Elves (all three) Chaos, Bretonnia (not fully painted), in the past I have played Empire(I sold it), Ork and Goblins(als sold them). I also have some undead, and Dwarves and of course some skaven(starter set).

In 40k I play Black Legion(Chaos Space Marines), and am working on JNecrons (I sold my first ones), I also sold my Gray knights and Salamanders.

I think in War of the ring I played they Minis Tireth guys and was also working on dwarves and Orcs(some I sold others found there way into my D&D minis).

Anyway ..I care (bit of money in my average painted minis).

A bit annoyed also I spent about 350-400 on codex's this year to update my armys after a break. Lookin like im going to be tossing those codex's...

My unsolicited two cents on the army books: I'm keeping mine, at least for a year. I have two rationalizations.

First, we don't know that Age of Sigmar is the *only* new game coming out. Some rumors suggest AoS is a "gateway" product to entice people into small-scale games, and that a "full-scale" game will appear much later this year. I'm (perhaps naïvely) hopeful that this rumored "full-scale" game will look more like an 8.5E than an AoS.

Second, I also play Dungeons & Dragons, and occasionally homebrew RPG systems that basically amount to the same thing. As a Dungeon Master / Game Master, the sheer amount of inspirational art, cartography, and writing (even when that last is sloppy or cheesy) in those books is a marvelous resource. As a simple example, rather than describe a scaly, flying, toothy-monster for twenty minutes, it's way easier to point to the Ripperdactyl picture and say "That. You see that. Except it doesn't have a rider, and its breath smells horrible - probably because of the rotting intestinal tube you spot dangling out the side of its mouth." (Of course, all, or at least most, of that art is out there in Google land easily enough, but if you want to keep the game offline, then the books are superior.) You don't even have to use precise things from the books, but they can definitely inspire other creative thoughts!

Anyway, that's just my plan. If you'd rather sell them for money now, instead of keeping them for a vain hope, then don't let me stop you. I don't know the truth of this new era any better than you! :D

(Third thought - out of print nerd books look great on a shelf! :bookworm:)

Yes definitely #3, just bemoaning my budget.

(It would actually years before I would actually toss em)

I'm wondering about the army books really, being that they are going to be discontinued very soon. If new players like this new AoS and want to play Fantasy, they will take one look at the shelf and say 'Where are the books?' and them saying it will come out later in the year. Seems a bit off really, they pull the new players in but them push them away as the lack of books don't exist. I think they will be very close by but later in the year... :penguin: No... I think no, if the AoS is linked to just two armies only then it's a no in my book about no books being there for fantasy until later in the year they say.

    Mini rant over :wacky:

My boyfriend has been very depressed over this, well he has been with the hobby longer than I have (A year for me)

Yeah I have been wondering about that as well. To remove all the army books at once...

TBH I'm not worried about any of the rumours, but this has me a bit concerned...

This new system. .. I don't buy it :p well I buy that they are doing something new and skirmish game; the setting, sounds plausible.
But this while new game mechanic seems to farfetched. Why creating a whole new system, when your already making some huge change to the fluff part. In that case it's not really warhammer fantasy any longer; this thing would be a complete different beast.

Let's wait and see. I like the promise if the survival of the lizards; that at least I can get behind ;)

Got back from the workshop and I overheard a conversation in a group possibly talking about this rumour. The manager chirps in and says that rumour is fake. I wish I could of heard more but the amount of noise going on I couldn't hear what was going on. I am almost certain it was about this rumour of new mechanics and so forth.

The thought of two Stegadons, a Bastiladon, a Troglodon, and a Scarnosaur all bumping into eachother and "linking arms" to form some massive Voltron-osaur is extremely exciting to me.

xD Just like the good ol' days!:

I now have the jumping sounds from the old Mario snes games playing in my head at the thought of creatures like Stegadons, hoping through the void in order to charge enemies.
