I find it hard to do converted models and such, where I go I have to use GW's models and it has to be heavy GW based. Going to be tough making my own army book models *laughs*
I will see if I can get away with a Triceratops model for Zlaaq when I make my Mazda convert.

    *Edit*
Using spare parts from the Stegadon frame and a new Slann model

Elementary, good sir! :cigar: Hope that conversion works out for you.

I'm about make a converted Scar Veteran on Cold One using Rider and Temple Guard bits to make him look more regal and menacing. We tend to allow "count as" models in friendly games or with new people wanting to try new units before they buy them. In a tournament though, you must have the real deal.

Turns out it has to be pure GW if I want to use him, I don't think I will end up using him anyway.
Doing the conversion will save me about £20

In my book this qualifies for justifiable homicide

The random toy triceratops as Zlaaq and that's it really or anything relating to a Stegadon. It will only be Zlaaq that will be not allowed.

actually the original was... Slan on cold ones (back when Slan where skink sized).

Ps. my army has many proxies/conversions, mostly because I didn't like the GW model.
But they are all pretty obvious to what they are supposed to be.

And that's the most important part! Besides conversions are fun.

"Counts as" models are most of the fun of the game for me. So long as there isn't any confusion and the base sizes are all appropriate for what you are fielding according to the rules, who cares what it looks like?

Personally, I think that anyone who says that you can't play with a model that meets the above criteria for the sole reason of it not being the official model is not a person you want to play with.

Skinks riding cold ones sound awesome. The current book only has one type of cold one rider. Why on earth would someone say that you couldn't use it?

Heck, even in tournaments, unless it is run by GW and has the stupid "only pure models" rule (which, along with WYSIWYG, is put in place primarily to make sure that more money is given to the company), so long as there is no confusion, there should be no problem. Just explain what each thing is, and remind people each turn by announcing what it is that you are moving ("I'm moving my cold one cavalry forward x inches" for example), and you shouldn't have any problems.
