I almost don't believe this flyer. The quality seems... unauthentic. I guess we'll see.

I did think about adding a disclaimer. It looks incredibly easy to fake, plus that spelling error....

Quote from a facebook group. Says he is a gw retailer. If this is true, then it better be pretty damn impressive.

    AOS update.

    ***************************************
This is pre order week for the Age of Sigmar.. Newest Version of Warhammer!!!!.
Out with the Old and In with the New...
Get a new hobbyist into the game with 1 miniature.. (their favorite box set)..
That simple.. War scrolls come in the boxes. The Rules are only 4 pages long and they are available from the web.(downloadable).. No more heavy rulebooks and army books. All a person would need is their miniatures war scroll.. Now you can get into the hobby and play a game with your favorite miniature or miniatures. If you already have an army. Start Playing as early as July 4th, when the rules and war scrolls are posted. Play games as small or as big as you want. There are no points.. Bases don't mean anything, modular trays don't mean anything. Measure from the tip end of the model.. Base your guys any way you would like too.
The Age of Sigmar allows you to get some one started with a minimum of $10-40 after that they just purchase miniatures as they want to increase their experience and as the game brings in new characters and armies. There will be new enemies, old enemies, new friends and old friends coming back. You can play with your favorite miniatures, you don't have to be tied down to one particular army. You may like other Units in other armies, well that;s okay
    *******************************************
What I know based on our conversation. I deleted the old post to make this more succinct.
Bases no longer matter in this new game. Measurements are taking from the model.
Over the period of months tere wil be e boxed sets which will be new models and new armies.
Warscrolls will be included in each of the new boxes, which will have the stat lines for that particular models in that box. Older box sets that are already in existence will have their warscrolls available for free on Saturday.
Basically take a codex and rip out a specific unit from that codex and package it in the boxset. i.e necron warriors box set will now include the codex rules for that specific troops, eliminating the need for army books.
4 page rule book will include all new phases of combat, including hero phase. Additionally, it will include a ton of different scenarios which people can play.
There also a handicap system in place for people with lesser fielded models.
There are no longer any point values for models. I believe its now based on army formation. Think CAD in 40k, where you have to have 1-2 HQ, 1-6 Troops. Each player matches up the like formation and plays. This allows exceptional diversity in playing the game. I could open a new box of dwaven troops, and a friend can open a box of lizardman, read out warscroll, reference the 4 page rule book and play right there. Conversely, for tournament play they could now set what their formation allowed, same with apoc style games.
    There is no 9th Edition.Ever.
Rumors of expanded rules in Aug are probably false.
Lore/history book are due out next week along side a hero expanded ruleset
Game turns are *I THINK* are alternating. Meaning, random for turn 1, if you go 1st turn one your opponent goes 1st on Round 2. He did say that if your character gets killed on turn one you will still have a turn to react.
Retail is 125 which comes with both sides the 4 page book, dice, template and a lore book I believe.

exactly! The rural countryside around here contains a lot less bull-dung than this flyer!!.

Anyway, the 4 page rule"book" from a company that utterly failed for 30 years to come up with anything more simple than the manual of the spaceshuttle, makes me really afraid.

If that is a direct copy/paste then I don't believe that one either. Lots of wish-washy language and spelling errors, plus reference to playing Necrons?

In any case, if these are true then I believe I am going to be a follower of Oldhammer for the rest of my life. That or I'll join the cult of 40k once again.

A spelling error with GW definitely does not mean it has to be fake... Have we already forgotten the Slann Magwe Priest and 'see page XX' after just one book?!

Re: Spelling errors: There was a job posting on the GW page a little while ago, seeking a new editor. I guess they're still struggling there...

Re: Rumors: I like free rules, I like short rules. I really like bringing in new people on one model. I kinda like the notion of a wide range of army sizes. I do *not* like measure-from-model and "no points." That's viscerally weird.

Also, I hope the web store will advertise the stat-lines for new models, as I'm not buying things without knowing what they do...

And another thing (./waves old man cane), "formations" in 40K sound neat, but they frequently just force you to buy more models. Bleh.

He says he is paraphrasing, but I'm not completely sure I'm buying it. I think there is more to it. For example, why state there are no new rules coming? That just doesn't make sense. It scares people off, and in the end, if they want to publish new rules they will do it anyway.

That flyer actually looks like some of the ones staff and managers were given with regards to new releases. Small snippets, so you could start pushing the product early and get people interested.

I imagine it's easy to mix up fact with fiction on these types on things.

It's possible for any truth in there to be smeared over with bias; the poster's own "filling in the blanks".

Thank you for the update... I hope it's untrue!
NOOOOOO... some much for my last bit of remaining hope (see above)
Where would you place your bets?
    GW for the "win"
Classic GW! I'll never forget that... hilarious.
Pretty much! How simple must this game be for the rules to fit onto 4 pages? I wouldn't have confidence in GW's ability to summarize the rules of hide-n-seek or Tic Tac Toe onto 4 pages, let alone a complex wargame.

Measuring distance from the model is an absurd idea; mark my words that this will lead to endless arguments.

I don't want to play that game.

Still waiting for the warscrolls I guess, but that's not the game as I am wanting to play it.

Certainly a "twist in the myth", that's for sure. No points system is going to take a lot of getting used to

I don't like the no points system, but the new psychology battleshock round looks interesting. I presume it might be there to resolve combat generally.

    Will probably give it go.

I wonder how it reflects the rules in the rumoured new BRB..
