So i have wanted to get into this hobby for some time but o never found an army that really called to me. Just yesterday i found out about the Lizardmen and the fact that they are set with a Mayan background i loved it, so i got the battalion pack and the hero.

    What i would like to know is what do you advise of how i should get the paint done;

    1. should i put t together then pant...I tried this and it was really hard so i am just keeping that peace as a fail...
    2. Prime and paint when it is still on the frame...
    3.or any other way?

i dont want to paint them with the blue so i have yet to decided on a color pallet. Any advice would be much appreciated

Mostly assemble and then paint, if you have problems reaching areas.
usually this is just leaving off shields and shield arms, and leaving off riders.
also I recommend that you glue on any sand or rocks to your base before you prime,
this helps them stay on a little better.

This thread might help with picking out a color scheme. http://www.lustria-online.com/threads/ye-olde-interactive-saurus-painter.4555/

Ps. painting order: prime, basecoat, dry-brush, wash, highlight. ;)

You can put glue most things together but as n810 said its easier to first base your model and then use primer to help stick sand and stuff to the base. I usually just glue everything together except for shields and shield arms. Shield arms tend to be positioned in a way that they can be a pain to paint around or behind. Just do some tryfitting and see if you could easily fit a brush in there.

Biggest tips I can give for painting:
    - Prime your models, but make sure you dont over prime them. Just a couple of blasts at at least 10" away. Shake WELL before use when using a spray can (which most people do).
    - Thin your paints, multiple thin layers are alot better than one big thick layer.
    - Keep trying new things and don't give up when they don't look as well as intended.

hay thanks for the advice i just got the stater kit and a spare set of lizardmen saurus warriors and found that the stater paint kit dose not have the colors i want to paint my army. In any case these colors have been grate to get me to understand how the paint flows and i just used the wash, let me say WOW that really helps bring out the color!! At first i thought there was no way i could ever make my army look good and now, the first two at lest look passable for my first two tries ^_^.

Oh and any advice on the color i should use for a primer i have a black one but i noticed that the paint is...darker? than i thought it would be...should i use white or gray to make the color POP more

20151028_004232.jpg OK thanks all for the advice, here is what I have done so far I only have the starter paint set but I need to buy more...

Another question I have is is it OK to paint the others differently. ..as the skink brighter or my temple guard with more gold

Also I don't know if it's cool but here is what I have done so far let me know what you think. This is my first time ...

wow they look great, the beauty with Lizardmen is you can have any colour on any unit so yes your Skinks can be a different colour.

Those look great, I think you are off to a very good start! Very nice colour scheme, as well, quite unique. And as @Crowsfoot said, the Lizardmen can be painted basically any colour you want. In my army, every Army book entry is painted differently (you can check them from the link on my signature, if you wish. Definitely check Crowsfoot's as well, should lent you a lot of inspiration!). Good luck with your painting!

I still have a few more more of these guys to go and I need to buy a few more paints for my skinks....

Oh and if anyone can give me a few Ideas for bases I have a thought to place a log for my skinks to stand on...I don't really know the rules but can I add some size to my models. As I add a 1/2 to 1 inch in the Size. As long as the minis stays within the size of the base?

I have seen lots of crazy awesome bases, like having them jumping by using clear plastic bit for terradons and that, or standing on barrels or rocks. So you should be okay there.

Are you playing AOS? If so no restrictions regarding bases but just be careful about height as LOS can be a game changer.

Oh good call! Hadn't thought of it like that! you may have to tell any opponents that this doesn't change line of sight, skink still can't see over top of his troll. Haha!

Looks really great! The effect looks really good on that staff! Almost looks like the green plasma or whatever that comes with 40K necron guns! Great looking model!
