I decided to make a new thread since I have more then just a Slann I am working on. Here is the begining of my Temple Guard as well.
Heres the one I am happiest most with as a quick paint. Spray painted Incubi Darkness. A light brownish color for all the parts that will be bone. Then I used the nuln oil around the teeth and used the purple wash (think its leviathan purple or something like that) on the top scales. Still unsure of a proper scale color however.
Here I can see the purple mentioned in the other threat... Really sets the carriers apart from the other TG, what is quite fitting I guess... Though the contrast within the model is quite high... But looks good in my eyes...
This is all the setup you need for taking better Pics.... Two light source (desk lamps are good) and a piece of paper for a backdrop (gradient backgrounds look kool). and make sure the lamps are lighting the front and top of the model, that's about it...
Me, too... If you don't have the possibility to do it like @n810 suggests (lacking desk lamps or paper for example... ) just make sure you take the pics in a well lighted room... (use light switch if necessary! ) and take pictures from different angles according to the source of light... I sometimes take 5-8 pics of a model to have one that is slightly presentable...
Did some painting. Still not done as I am out of alot of paints. Wanted to post some progress however.
Looks great! I love the contrast between the dark temple guard against the bright Slann, smart choice of colors!!
Got blinded by the flashing gold! looks nice so far! And now I see how my purple TG shields are gonna look like... Quite nice!
I know i need to take better pictures outside. Waiting until its completed first. I know some may not like metalics but I really dig them - espeically for the Seraphon. I am thinking for the weapons I may have the metal be silver with many washes of blue and purple to emphasize the 'celestial demon' aspect of the Seraphon.
They look good! Is the shine on the models a wash drying? I really like the black wash on the gold of the saurus“ equipment! And I see that the slann is missing one eye Keep the pics coming!
That slann looks like a slimy, warty, watery toad. Well done, I like his headdress and how you have added more up-to-date temple guard to carry him around!
Yeah I did my washes thick on the Slaan as I wanted him to look slimey. His one eye got too much of the green wash in it so it dulled down -- I gotta fix that still.
Thanks I cant figure out what color to highlight the fleshy parts of the Saurus units. Right now hes been based in Incubi darkness with blue washes on flesh and blue/purple/blue washes on the scaley parts.
What do you want them to look like? at the moment they are a bit one tone, I would go with a dark grey skin and highlight up to light grey you could then glaze with a green all over if you wanted to tie them in together but it should not need it.
