Have a Game coming up against quite a horde of Clan Pestilence, Monks,Plague-Furnace and Plague Claws...just lots of dice being thrown and Mortal wounds. My plan is to run Shooting type army to try and avoid some of them mortal wounds in CC. I have a list I would like looked over to see if I can make it better. Leaders: Skink Chief - General (Tenacious + Phoenix Stone) - 60 Engine of the Gods (Phoenix Stone) - 240 Skink Starpriest (phoenix Stone) - 100 Units: 20 Skinks - Boltspitters & Star Bucklers -160 10 Skinks - Boltspitters & Star Bucklers - 80 10 Skinks - Boltspitters & Star Bucklers - 80 3x Ripperdactyl Riders - 140 5 x Chameleon Skinks - 120 3x Kroxigor - 180 Behemoths: 2x Bastiladon - 600 Battalions: Thunderquake Starhost -120 Shadowstrike Starhost - 120 Is it worth trying to get a Slann squeezed into this list for the buffs.
Pestilens is a tough one. The slann is more likely to get you the engine's extra turn, but would probably want Kroak or a starseer for rerolls. Kroxigor are decent, but you will need to keep them alive and ensure they get the charge for first activation. I think more chameleon skinks, because you are going to need to make some assassinations. Do you know who his general will be?
His General is normally a Verminlord corruptor which takes Crown of conquest on, so double inspiring presence. Never considered Kroak but 540 is a lot of points to find!
My friend plays a similar army and I regularly beat him. Set your rippers on the plague furnace or the verminlord in the first turn if you can and you'll hopefully kill it. I play a similar set up. Try and get your bastiladons in combat with the plaguemonks, choose "savage" and then in your next shooting phase you'll really slam them.
Yeah, Kroak wasn't really an option for this list, but the starseer for rerolls is decent. But again you have a great list here, if it is objectives based you should be able to take the victory. You just need to assassinate the furnace, lord skrolk/plague priest, and the corruptor. Easier said than done. But if you can take out one when you have the opportunity for a double turn, and get a chance to charge the other, you will watch the tides changge dramatically.
Some good advice here, would I drop the Krox for another 5 Chameleons and 1 Sally, or drop 10 Skinks and the chief.
Tough call, you need the sally and handlers for the Thunderquake. You night drop the chief and 10 skinks for some chameleons, or 3 more rippers to really ensure the assassination goes well. I like the chief in there, makes your skinks far more effective of a threat, and well worth the points.
