A single killer unit is kept highly mobile, and goes around munching on everything in sight. Being able to march at all times is nice, as it allows the big unit to prioritize. The most common lore for this army will be the Lore of Shadow, for the movement spells, the wonderful magic missile, and the fear causing spell for times when you want a kroxigor to cause terror or you want your TG to autobreak your target. The always march drum is a great synergy with Unseen Lurker, as it just means that much more marching by the big unit. The rest of the units are there to support the Slann if possible. I'll have to learn how exactly to wield this list, but I think it promises to be quite deadly. Oh, and just in case some little Warrior of Chaos wants to try infernal gateway on the unit, my Slann will be gazing his direction with his becalming cogitation. Not to mention, he will be passing off the first nasty miscast he rolls. Let me know what you think.
Caneg, you seem to have a gift for twisting an idea just so and creating something truly unique. My only concern is your list is fairly "all eggs in one basket" with your only unit besides the TG who can really take or cause a beating being the Steg and to an extent the Jag Vet. Your only real concern as far as I can see is a large part of your strategy involves moving a M4 unit around the board, and only having 1 chance a turn to get off your extra movement. This is one of those excellent and individual lists that will really require you to play it and see how it fares. I think you've got all the tactics behind it to really pull it off well, it just remains to be seen how easily you can bring the strategy together, hopefully Pit of Shades might be scary enough to coax out a lot of your opponents dispel abilities. Good luck and let us know how it fares!
Wow, awesome looking list. My only question is, where are the Scar-Vets going? Are the going in the Temple Guard unit? If they are, all i gotta say is, that is no Moon, that is a space station...
I really like the list. I wanted to try something like it as soon as I saw it, but here's what I think Skink cohort is at its most efficient at ten models cuz they are big enough to flank, expendable, and can all be brought to bear for shooting by using half movement. I'd prolly like to use razordons in this list because they are scary to charge and can guard your giant badass unit's flanks
The war drum vet will keep mostly with the TG unit, but he will serve as a target for the Slann's Steed of Shadows spell. I will probably only remove him from the unit using that spell, to retain that element of surprise. On non-charging turns, I'll want to keep him with the unit to make sure they get to march 8". If after the unit marches I spot a juicy war machine or any other easy target, I'll cast steed of shadows on the guy. The good part is, I can cast this early in the phase to draw out a couple dispel dice. If it doesn't go off, no big deal, he's still with the unit. The one I don't want dispelled is the Jag Charm Scar-Vet. I can also spell him out of the unit if it is engaged with a super nasty character, who just charged in and took out the champion. One skrox unit will be near the TG, to charge any bait unit or other unworthy units out of the way of the TG. If they choose to engage skrox, then the TG piles in and gets to pursue 3D6, which on average is more ground covered than a march anyway. Or they might choose to simply march around the battle, crossfiring the inevitably broken bait unit. The Jag Charm Vet will be cruising around on his own, doing what needs doing. I'll probably assist him with Terradons and chameleon skinks, along with skirmishers for initial screening.
I see you've spotted where my 10 extra points went! I just couldn't find anything I wanted worth 10 more points, so I figured a couple more skinks couldn't hurt.
