Last update for a couple weeks. I've been focusing on finishing a few things on my Genestealer Cult. I've finished everything in the box set, except the aberrants and the three characters. I'm hoping to get a bunch of my non-box set cultists at least partially done over the next couple weeks while I'm out of town, but we'll see. The 12 Acolyte Hybrids. 2 Crouchlings. Progress so far.
They look incredible so far! Going tobbe a great looking army on the table. Such cool models painted expertly!
Thank you! This army has been a labor of love from the beginning. It started as a kit bash conversion army back in 4th ed. that played as an IG army using the old IG doctrines. It has since gone on to be a Slaanesh Chaos army, before finally getting a codex of their own. I'll have to post some pictures one of these days of some of the older conversions.
Didn't get as much done as I wanted over the last couple weeks, but got base coats on some neophyte hybrids. Playing Zombiecide and Doom deathmatch took precedence. Hopefully, I can post some pictures of the hybrids soon. I'll try to get more pictures of other things posted as well, now that I'm home.
My main project while I was gone. 19 Neophyte Hybrids who have infiltrated the local militia. They are waiting on arms until the new edition comes out. The first of the cult mutants. Genestealer Patriarch on his throne.
That was actually completely unintentional. But as an unrepentant punster, I am quite proud of myself.
Not much painting recently, more building. I finally got my first box of Dark Vengeance put together. I plan to use the Dark Angels as Fallen, now I just need to get them all painted.
::heresy:: Good luck painting them, the Fallen are a good looking army. Do you plan to use the leftover chaos-marines as fallen as well? And the cultists in the same army? It might make for an interesting mix of models.
I don't have a canonical Fallen paint scheme in mind. I was planning on doing them with black armor and orange trim, so I can use them as a Space Marine army as well if I want to. Eventually, the SM will be a loaner army I can use to teach people to play or play with my nephews. I will mix in the rest of the Chaos for now, but in the long term I will build a full Chaos army by adding in other models a little at a time. For starters, I really need to finish my Oblit/Mutilator conversions...
Finally able to paint a little last night. I decided to work on some space marines for my borrow/teaching army. Behold the Sons of Wrath. Biggest issue, I really don't want to file off the Dark Angels symbols, so I am not sure what to do. I will probably leave it, or I may figure out a way to adapt what's on there. We'll see. The primary symbol for the Sons of Wrath is horizontal ax with the haft splitting two half moon blades, reminiscent of the Greek letter Theta. I probably just need to file it off and repaint it.
We believe the cult is preparing for war. Witnesses tell us that they have begun arming their neophyte hybrids.
My wife went out of town for most of the week, so I've been able to get a bit of painting done. My first 12 chaos cultists finished, 8 more to go. Plus I did five more marines and the first of the chosen. I'll try to get pictures up later this week.
Both squads of Space Marines. I still can't find one in my closet, so I'll have to keep looking. And just for kicks, here is a picture of most of my Tyranids. I'm not sure how many points I have at this point, but it's a lot. Maybe 10,000? I'm not sure. But it's a lot.
That is a LOT of tyrannids. How much/of what do you have?? Did you paint them as multiple hive-fleets? The green bases looks like they might even be earlier generations of 40K.
I am really not sure how much I have of what. I know I have at least 150-180 hormagaunts, probably about as many termagaunts in various weapon configurations, 80-100 genestealers, 30+ gargoyles, 10 or so Carnifexes, including the original Old One Eye, probably 10 raveners, plus the original Red Terror, 6 or so hive tyrants, 6 Lictors, plus the named character, and probably 20+ warriors. Also, a smattering of big bugs, plus some conversions I've done over the years for various things. In terms of models, they range from a couple second edition models I've picked up to some from the latest releases. I started the army in third (the bright green bugs), rebuilt it for fourth (the dark green and brown bugs), and then redesigned the paint scheme going forward with a blue and purple, then red and black, then red and blue. Now I'm back to a slightly different and upgraded red and black scheme. Part of the problem is that GW kept changing and canceling the colors I was using. I'm hoping to upgrade all of the last three to the new red and black, it shouldn't be too difficult.
