Hey guys, I want to buy a slann (because theyre amazing) but find the 40 euro pricetag a bit over the top for a single model. Any idea for an alternative? I have some 20 euro ideas but theyre not really the "ancient wizard casting the powers of the stars themselves", more of a silly slann plan.
Apart from second hand models or just building it yourself from scratch... no not really. No other models that look similar to them. The best I can think of is getting a stegadon, using the priest, chair and portally thing that you'd normally use for the EoTG for your "slann" and the rest for a normal stegadon. Just say it's a very young slann which is why it looks like a skink... Which is well a bit of a lame excuse.
The was a mini looking quite like a Slann (froggy and sitting on a throne) somewhere in the 9th age section... and I think @Drimon got one recently and showed it in his blog... don't know if it's much cheaper though... And I've seen some scratch build Slann on Google and such places... my own green stuff Slann is still in progress...
It would look like a frog, but not on the throne. My idea was taking a bloodbowl troll, filing all the extra's off, placing a basketball/magic orb in his hand and make him look like hes slamdunking it. ...Slanndunking it
There is a Queztocoatl on this forum somewhere that I think is a brilliant alternate Slaan. I bought a spare palanquin from @Lord-Marcus awhile back and my plan is to magnetize so I can try different things in there. First candidate is a Reaper Ice Toad.
I have a Queztocoatl at http://www.lustria-online.com/threads/the-dragonewts-dream.18482/ - I daresay there are probably better. Slim chance of getting the base model for that - it has been out of production for well over 30 years.
Counting Totek's there are two! The one I had in mind is here: http://www.lustria-online.com/threads/help-id-this-coatl-winged-slann.18802/#post-176255 @Warden managed to find a bunch of pix of it.
Don't recall, but not too long, less than two weeks atleast to where I live. They are in spain and I live in sweden so went fairly smooth. Worth the wait nontheless
I do like the alternative model that @Drimon suggested. I also made my coatl for cheap if you want to go that route. All it took was some bake-clay for the body, a leftover cold-one head, and some plastic wings that I cut off a $5 from a hobby store. Spoiler: my coatl (link to more pictures)
