This week I got further along with roads, but you all have already seen picture of those so I'll show the progress I have on my dracoth from the stormcast eternals instead! He is basically done, and I'm working on the rider now. After that, I plan on working on some Slanns!
Man I hate that guy. From a playing perspective that is. I kinda like the model. The breath attack can be very destructive, as a General he makes the whole army battleshock immune, and when you give him that armor command trait combined with a shield he is almost unkillable, with a 2+save rerolling ones and hurting the attacker when he does. The only way to kill him is high rend or reliable mortal wounds. ...and all that for only 220 points.
I've only used him once before, and you are definitely right about that breath attack! He never actually went down, and I find Stormcast as a whole are like this, tough but start to crumble as soon as models are removed from the table. However, I think it's a wonderful model and is a joy to paint. During the holiday break I was able to get a lot done as well. I finally finished all of my roads, I got a lot of rebasing done and I'm now pivoting to working on my slann for the competitions.
I like the roads! And the rest of the models of course but I really want to go and make modular roads/rivers like the ones you produced. Well done!
Thanks! Rivers would follow more or less the same process, so I'm thinking of adding them eventually haha. As for my progress this week, I've worked on my entry for the Golden Serpent contest, as well as a few more buildings and terrain pieces. I also got a game in between our wonderful lizards and the high elves! (aelfs, aelves, highborn, etc etc).
Do you mean the Golden Slann / Sculpting contest (ver. 2) or did I completely miss out on the announcement for the second iteration of the Golden Serpent?
Got even more games in with my younger brother! He played as lizardmen and I played Khorne bloodbound, needless to say the dinos won! We followed it up the next day with Stormcast vs. High Elves, and I won as the elves!
Finally completed the celestant on dracoth, overall I find the stormcast to be easy to paint compared to some other miniatures... Of course that's not the only thing I've been working on, as I've been hard at work making my entry for the Golden Slann. Here are a few teasers of my work so far!
As a bird lover I wish those Aelves riding birds were a proper army in AoS. But many of the other models are old and/or bad looking and stat-wise...meh.
Swifthawk agents are decent at least at the 1k list level. Throw in a skycutter and you have two pretty birds in the army!
I have the griffin and a skycutter along with Prince Imrik on Dragon if your serious, all unpainted and I will do you a good deal
