It will be you decide what to paint, I don’t want people having to buy models to participate so paint what you have and if you paint a model good if you paint a unit good, the idea is to keep us motivated to finish what we have, you could even build a terrain piece it really is upto you.

This is a good idea, especially how I keep going on to myself about getting things done, getting tired of fielding grey plastic and white resin most of the time. Then juggling other things at the same time but I am getting some squigs this week, they look like easy models to paint.

I support this idea, but sadly I am far far away from painting lizardmen. You considering opening it up for non-lizardmen, and even non-GW models?

    What does TGA do?

    (edit)
    Tried to find the thread.
Didn't realize I have a (secret) login over there.
But I was able to LIKE :hilarious: someone's post.
    :cyclops:
Glimpsed a few threads. They seem a very Worshipful Company of Fangirls (and Boys) over there.
    :wtf:
Still no clue what is clever/interesting about their monthly painting effort.
    ???

Rereading this topic I realized that this is suppose to be an idea thread and I didn't do that.

I paint like half a mini per year, but the year I did the most was with a similar thread in W-E, where monthly we planned what we wanted to paint and then someone would keep a record on how much "the team" manage to complete. Basically like the 9th age thread with the addition of keeping a record and at the end of the year we had some stats.

I am really competitive and love stats, so this is how I would improve what I done before for someone like me.

    How to improve:
    - Accept other hobby related task, i.e. write fluff, battle reports, etc
    - Compete vs another forum, as long as there are no tangible prizes I do not think there would be too much cheating.
    - Opt-in possibility to keep personal stats, i.e., % completed, months enrolled
    - Defined rules for posting goal and results (+/- 1 week from 1st)
    - Non-tangible prizes like forum medals, i.e. 100% completion rate, 10+ month goal set. etc.
    - Summary every month, a nice image with all minis made with opt-in name, website, blog for the painted.
    - Nice name banner.

    What to avoid
    - Pressure, even if there are statistics or competitiveness, there should be zero to little pressure on the participants. At the end this is a hobby, and not a job.
    - Tangible prizes, because the prize is to help keep people motivated to work on the hobby. Prizes may lead to cheating/lies/etc.
    - Not comparing amount or quality of the work, doesn't matter how much you paint (1 or 20 models) or if its tabletop/pro painted, but that you put your own goal and achieved it or not.

All the reasons above are why I think it will work as it's a motivation thread and will hopefully keep us all busy with friendly encouragement, advice etc

Nice idea! Will see if I enter from month to month... all depends on time available... as I'm searching for a new job I guess you can count me in for January...

Did this not get off the ground yet? I would be interested as my productivity is zero at present.

Probably have to be a February start for me now but I'm looking at making an all skinks mini force or something.

Not yet but with Christmas and New year a January start was unrealistic so February will be the first month :)

So get everything else out of the way, get your xbox/ps fix in January and crack out the paints in Feb :D

    Just noticed this!
Definitely nice idea, +1 to the suggestion to don't limit the submission to lizards-only models.

    I will join it. :)
