Thank you. I tried that but then I got a message that my post was inappropriate or spam (it was just a painted mini)... I'll try again :)

Perhaps, I tried again and now it works :) Maybe I'm just not that tech savvy!

Nope, the forum has a safeguard. New users have to make like 5 posts I think. Something like that

Very nice, was considering doing something similar for my trog bits, now seeing yours I think it’s well worth doing!
    Thanks.

This thread is glorious. Every time I bounce back to warhammer and to this forum, I am amazed how passionate you (and others) are. Love it.

Absolutely first class work. Gah! I literally just used my trogladon collar to make astrolith bearer icon last week. A note for anyone who hasn’t made a trog kitbash yet, have a read of malign portents story dying star (if you missed it)...spawning pool base perhaps? (Edit, I signed up to the forum as a result of this thread)

The Troglodon kitbash was amazingly done for how little you had to work with. Making it swim in a water-themed base just fits the creature perfectly. I had the same idea with using the spare head crest for a massive shield on one of my hero units. It just screams for it. I look forward to any future min max sessions you do for getting that extra mile out of your model kit sets. Cheers!

You can use green stuff for both, it was just Milliput is a lot cheaper than green stuff

Didn't think the Astrolith kit-bash was that great until I looked at real one. Just saved myself 30CAD. Serpents slid down a little when I took the picture.[IMG]

Looks good, yes you can do better but the aim was to only use parts from the SC box.

I love the Sunblood idea! To be honest the current model is too much dinosaur and not enough fantasy Aztec, if that makes sense?

Out of interest, have you painted that Astrolith Bearer? And do you have any other suggestions for Sunblood shield (perhaps ones outside the SC box?)

Not painted yet but it's on the list, for a Sunblood shield you could use parts from the stegadon kit or a couple of guard shields kitbashed together.

    This guide is fantastic.
You really can cut down the costs and still get good looking models.
I will soon work on my astrolith bearer conversion (starting from the trimmed base + standard bearer icons idea).
