I am liking the look of all of this. The new summoning rules look pretty solid, the Engine of the Gods combined with Slann could make for an awesome summoning beast. Cheaper points are also a plus, even though the Skinks have not got the hoard points they are still made cheaper so a win overall. Saurus Guard and Saurus Knights are also a little cheaper, in itself maybe not that impressive but who knows what those 10 extra points can get us, the battalions have been a mixed bag in terms for points with some being more expensive and some less. Still able to teleport and unbind spells anywhere. I am happy. Edit 18:06:18: Skinks are not cheaper, thanks to Sonofnocturne for pointing it out.
Skinks are more expensive now, no super cheap max unit size. Also only Seraphon battleline now so a needed nerf to mixed order lists.
LoSaT got a nerf/buff... Now on a 1-2 the unit can't teleport or move but also on a 5-6 it can move after it teleports... Not sure how I feel about that yet
With Curse of fates it is very strong, as you can move after teleporting on 4+. Also nothing restricts to use it twice on the same unit, so with Great Rememberer it is possible to "reroll" 1-2. I guess, second effect will override the first.
Any confirmation that thunderquake received a point decrease to 130? I can't make it out on the above.
Agree its very strong, don't agree that you can cast it twice on one unit to overwrite a 1-2. I think that first roll tags the unit with no move or charge. I think the second roll could still teleport it but only for it to shoot something.
Competitively the change to our teleport was probably a nerf since it was mostly used to move shooting units and grab objectives anyways. With this change, however, it may encourage more aggressive Saurus based lists with a higher chance of moving into charge range. I think I would have preferred greater reliability without the potential to move, but at the same time I think I’ll learn to love it the first time I get a first turn charge with a buffed Saurus Warrior blob.
Maybe they will buff Kroxigor and you can use the new teleport to get them into combat faster! One can dream.
Has anyone heard whats going to happen to battalion abilities that let more than one hero use their command abilities?
Speaking of dreaming I noticed they upped the price of the firelance starhost? Any idea why? It's not like people were really using it to begin with and even with the point drop of knights anyone using the firelance is still paying more now than before. A small unreasonable part of me is hoping they finally changed the spears to mortal wound on a 6 to hit roll...or more likely they just wanted to put a tax on additional command points.
I’m not sure if I’m understanding you correctly, but I read somewhere that for like Fangs of Sotek they are just giving an additional Command Point.
Yeah, like in the bloodclaw starhost every hero that's part of the battalion can use their command ability. In second edition that's not much of a benefit anymore, considering its all just dependent on command points now. An extra command point would be awesome, hopefully it's an extra one per turn.
Overall it looks okay. Skinks becoming Seraphon only battleline will put a damper on a friend of mine. Otherwise, im keen to get this in hand.
