Well that's the first round of Escalation done, did the Knife to the Heart fight wth 750 points, fielded my Carno, Basti 5 knights and 10 warriors against a Chaos Slaves that fielded 10 warriors with shield 5 with dual 5 knights a sorc lord and a lord on steed, got completely obliterated and ended up with a measly 90 kill points! But was fun looking forward to continuing this hobby, with that little bit of info, I'll upload pics of my warriors tomorrow! ( Basti suffered battle damage, tip of a skink spear cracked and can't find it )
Anyways heres my warriors, attempted highlighting every scale but as you can see it's barely visible so not worth the hassle especially for a model such as theese that can have up to 40 in a unit Shield highlights turned out ok, think it needs a final almost orange highlight to top it off on some parts for the next time though And here the entire gangs together! Welcome to Jurassic Park. Next step, slightly kitbashed Scar Veteran on Cold one, Skink Starpriest and 5 Temple Guard
Army looks great, for highlight on warriors, skinks etc, go lighter than you think, Baharroth blue or similar but like you have already found out for rank and file units, not worth the effort.
it's the truth! You have followed the classic color scheme perfectly; between that and the basing they might as well be in the army book!
Citadel Finecast, what a complete and utter pain in the ass to work with, trying to make my Astrolith Bearer fit together is so much work, I've used hours on this now and his legs look crooked, there's massive gaps in the joints that I need to fill with green stuff and to top it off the stick for carrying the Astrolith itself was crooked and bend like a flacid weiner, resulting in me trying to straighten it with hot water, which in turn made it break. I've salvaged what I can but my god, what a misfortune to work with this stuff. Additional note is I think every single piece on the 2 models I've gotten, since I complained to GW about the first one, are crooked, spikes on his back, the weapon, the astrolith, it is beyond me how they ever thought it would qualify as "finecast"
I see your point about the "fine"cast, but honestly I never liked the face of that saurus to begin with... even though I liked the standard itself the face alone stopped me from purchasing that model and just making my own.
Your own astrolith came out well And I agree, the face is off putting but I do really enjoy the design of the astrolith and his weapon, which would've been ok all in all if I had didn't have to fight with the resin for so long! I guess the morale of this is to think twice before buying models that are so-so made out of resin
Forgot to add that for my escalation match I played with my Seraphon, I created myself a Cheat-sheet to help me learn and ease into the rules, never uploaded it here, so here it is in case anyone is interested!
Thanks! Not entirely happy with the result but theyre game ready at least, lessons learned and remembered for next time I paint them! Still got another 10 in the box and they are fantastic models
Finished my Skink Starpriest and Scar Vet on Cold One just in time for my match tonight, hopefully it will go better than last time Priest and my Scar Vet made from a kitbash from the start collecting set! very happy with the result of both of them I did however botch the scales on my skink as I was trying to manually highlight, my hands are not stead enough for it yet though so I ended up shading over it with nightshade to reduce the impact that splotches had on the models!
