AoS Help with army lists

Greetings.

I have been a long time Lizardmen fan. It was my first army about 19 years ago. Now in AoS I have had a hard time falling in love with an army. Looking for a competitive army that has models a playstyle that I like. I have not settled for anything yet.

So I turned my gaze to the stars. I have read some about Seraphon the past couple of weeks. As I understand it there are three battalions that works ok. Heavenswatch, Thunderquake and Shadowstrike. Not really a competitive army compared to the newer ones but nostalgia must count for something, right?

I can't seem to get the list building right, as none of the battalions include all the goodies for me. I like most units in the army, and the things I don't like is only because of how they look. Not in terms of gameplay. I was hoping for a competitive army including Carnosaur, Bastiladon and Stegadon, Slann, Skink Starpriest, Skinks, Ripperdactyls and maybe even some Kroxigor (simply because I like the models)

I know that some units stand out in the crowd and lack good synergies. So here is where I need you and your plaques of wisdom. I'm looking for a start at 1000 points with a 2000 point goal.
