Vosrik's Workshop Hall Here is where I will be posting all my various WIPs as well as completed projects. Comments, questions, and general feedback is greatly encouraged as I can always improve my painting skills.
Mmm I'm liking that dark green patterning, gives those core troops a bit more pop . Be sure to update when you finish the job!
I've actually finished the model, but I'm in the middle of adding water effects so I'll have to wait a couple days perhaps until it's really done
Hey guys, update on our first Saurus model! Water effects still aren't 100% dry, but everything else is finished. Many more saurus to come soon!
Pretty kool guys. I like the scheme you choose, and extra points for the great basing. Ps. yea you posted in the right spot. Pps. how do like painting scales instead of power armor ?
It's an interesting change for sure! xD I found that paint was rubbing off more so due to me handling it and there being a lot more pointy parts. I'm definitely liking the story for Fantasy much more than 40k, with the end times and everything
Yea, I find myself holding my saurus by the back spikes, base, and tail a lot, so I end up paintind those pointy metalic bits last.
Well the realistic water dried, and I've learned a couple things! 1: It shrinks a LOT. 2: Don't put any of the undergrowth down until AFTER the water effects are finished, it soaks it all up and makes it really difficult to apply. Kind of unfortunate thing is that we're putting a lot of detail into each model, so it's gonna take us a long time to get this unit finished. xD If/when we do finish it, any suggestions on what models to get next? Skinks, Slann, Temple Guard? We're not gonna be playing the actual game any time soon (college assignments suck -_- ) so we're open to suggestions.
I would do some skinks next, you are definately going to use them in your army somewhere. I like to save my characters as rewards for finishing a bunch of core models.
Finished model looks good! I would also recommend skinks, less because of how many you need though and more of because I like their models a lot.
Time to kick this page back into gear I say! While I haven't done any lizardmen models since I got rid of my old ones, I did paint up a Space Marine Captain for my dad's army as a birthday present. Although it was done a year or two ago, it's the most recent model I painted and likely one of my best to date. I certainly had a lot of fun doing his cape, from what I recall. However, I have a bad habit of not thinning my paints — something that made the edge highlights much thicker than they should be. Something to fix once I get back into the swing of things. Also freehanded the Ultramarine symbol, as I dislike using decals.
Nice Marine, I’m the same I never thin my paints a terrible habit I need to kick which after I finish my Seraphon I will start painting in a different way.
Yeah, it’s definitely something I want to start doing that I think will allow me to improve my painting. That and it’s much easier to blend using thinned paints.
Thanks! I’m still tossing ideas around for a colour scheme though. On one hand, earthy tones make more sense so their forces could camouflage better, but I really enjoy the look of brightly coloured scales and skinks.
Wow, well I'm back once again....almost 9 years after I first forayed into some lizards. The release of the new minis inspired me, and my painting skills have improved over the years. So here's my Astrolith Bearer, the first mini of my upcoming Seraphon army! I greatly enjoy the idea of painting my minis with inspiration from real lizards and amphibians, so I'm basing my Saurus off of Tokay Geckos. They're very colourful and are also well known for how aggressive they are, so I thought they were perfect for Saurus. The top of the staff snapped off during the painting process, so I found a stick outside and glued that to it to help support it.
Great work, man! I like the contrast between the light-colored Saurus and the dark banner and basing, it makes the Saurus stand out nicely. The skin pattern is spot on! (pun intended ) Grrr, !mrahil
