Is there anything I can choose to add to my army list that works extra good versus Legions of Nagash? I could maybe teleport something up close to Nagash if we don't have any sniper units? Currently I have these models: Lord Kroak 1 Skink Starpriest 1 Skink Priest 1 Astrolith Bearer 4 x 10 Skinks with javelins and bucklers 2 x 5 Chameleon Skinks 1 Salamander 3 Skink Handlers 1 Bastiladon with Solar Engine plus a Balewind Vortex. (1610 points without the spell) I also already got the general advice to look into getting some razordons, a slann, more skinks, a stegadon and some ripperdactyls. Edit: forgot the ripperdactyls.
Killing Nagash early is the best method. And shadowstrike Starhost is the best chance to do it. Short of killing Nagash there are somethings you can do to help your odds: Camp LoN gravesites to limit where units can be returned to on the battlefield. Kill off other Death heroes to limit the spells Nagash has access to. Avoid fully killing enemy summonable units until the LoN general is slain. This might mean having to retreat from combat. Take advantage of Skeletons low movement. LoSaT is a beautiful thing. I hope this was helpful. Best of luck!
A propely built seraphon list can be a threat to many of the LoN armies saturating the meta. Follow Lizardwizard's advice.
I know the kits are expensive, but Razordons are the best unit we have against LoN atm. Skeletons lose their save when they are attacked by a weapon profile with -1 rend or better. Thus Razordon's Piercing Barbs and volume of fire make them perfect for thinning large units of Skeleton Hordes as they will only be left with their Deathless Minions saving throw. There some pretty nifty guides on Lustria Online related to converting Razordons from Cold Ones and other more affordable kits.
Thank you very much for your advice. I do have some unused Cold Ones since I also collect dark elves.
Here are my flesh hound razordons of the pic comes up. I also have 4 of the older ones aswell. They are simple flesh hounds with cold one heads
Just played a small 750 point game against LoN a few days ago, as part of an escalation league. My list was Skink Starpriest, 3 Ripperdactyls, 2 units of 2 razordons, 1 set of skink handlers, and 2 units of 20 skinks with a couple of endless spells. Early on I tried killing his leader but never quite finished the job. The big thing I would do was get the skinks charged, then run away to steal the objective away from him in his turn (denying him points). Alternatively, I would change him with skinks, put the models along the side, consolidate by further wrapping models around him, and then run away to grab objectives behind him. The Ripperdactyls killed a single unit but I solidly won on points. My rolling was terrible though.
Good to hear there is hope against LoN! I have invested in a Slann this month since it felt like an important missing piece in the puzzle.
Generally speaking, the Dark Elves have much better looking Cold Ones than the Lizardmen/Seraphon have. What I like to do is use my Lizardmen Cold Ones for conversion projects and kitbash my Saurus Cold One Riders in with Dark Elf mounts.
Played my first game against LON (with nagash) at a 1-dayer over the weekend. Great player, great list that had Nagash, a necro, 60 some odd reapers and some other odds and ends. Was using a 90 warrior Fangs list with double carnos. I lost a carno to portal + dust on turn 2 and reapers absolutely obliterated everything in front of them, but was an incredibly close game and he pulled ahead on turn 5. I did get lucky with priority rolls and got the top of the turn the whole game. If i hadn't, it probably would have been a blowout. I talked to him a little afterwards and he said he thought I should have committed less. Tried to kill less things, tag just the edges of his Reapers with my saurus blocks. Essentially force Nagash to do more than he probably would want to otherwise, not get in toe-to-toe fights with reapers if I could avoid it, and gum up the gravesites. Dunno if that helps but it was rough. I tried to hold up things as much as I could, but between the spell power of nagash, the killing power of the reapers, and the fact that everything comes back, it was certainly an uphill battle.
My brother collects nighthaunts. He is considering getting reikenor the grimhailer. What is effective against him?
I would probably try good old shooting. He has only 7 wounds and a 4+ save. Razordons or Bastiladons, maybe even a big Skink blob should kill him pretty quickly. Rippers or Terradons might also work. And have a Slann ready to dispel his spells.
Welcome to Lustria Mokomoko! @Aginor's suggestions are the way to go. Keep in mind you don't want to be in range of his candles during Reiknor's hero phase.
