    Hi Folks,

Started collecting (and painting) back in May/June time 2018. I hadnt painted a miniature since I was 12 so there was a steep learning curve. Thought it might be nice to document my progress so here goes....

I will be updating each entry when i have some better photos too, i have just gone back through my pictures and quite a lot of my units are missing!

First up, The Start Collecting Box...
    Carnasaur.JPG

This was the first model I painted because, well, it's a T-Rex ridden by a smaller dinosaur!

    Carni.jpg

This was where I established what kind of base theme I was going for, which has developed over time as you all will see..

Next up were the Saurus Knights.

    Riders.jpg

These were great fun to paint, I didn't (and still dont) really care for a uniformly themed monsters in my army so i painted the cold ones all different colors. This was great practice for different skin tones too.

I found a scheme that I like for my Saurus and ran with that.

The warriors were fun - and a learning curve. I hadn't realized that they need to all be using the same weapons to be in a unit (I bought the kit to paint and not play with), so i bought some second hand ones off ebay to make bigger blobs for when I decided to actually play.

    Saurus Warriors.JPG

The orange shielded Saurus were from the original set and the purple shield were from the ebay batch which I adapted the way they were painted to match my units. I thought the purple shields and spikes allowed for a nice variance among the units.

With the Start collecting box painted, I bought a box o skinks (and then about 80 more off ebay!)

These were great fun to paint but I found that painting huge batches made me inpatient and I missed loads of details which I would now be kicking myself to miss - all part of the learning process tho!

    Batch painting is the WORST!

Ebay is a wonderful thing! Managed to get a metal slann for about £14 however, it required some work as you can see.. Slann Before.JPG

I soaked it in methylated spirits and scrubbed the original paint job and began work. My local GW were kind enough to give me a flying base for it (for FREE!)

    Slann Progress.JPG

And here he is finished (on a bit of scenery I made for my D&D campaign)

    Finished Slann.JPG

After putting it together I realised I have put it on a smaller base than it comes with - again, part of the learning process!

No slann is complete without an astrolith bearer....
    Astrolith 1.JPG Astrolith.jpg

This was where I started to really make an effort with smaller details like teeth and eyes however, I feel like I rushed this a bit too much (needed it for a game quickly!), I think at some point in the future I will come back to it and tidy it up/add more detail.

I then bought a Lord Korak from a local second hand game shop which was pre painted and put my painting to shame, so of course, I had to get a balewind vortex!

    Balewind.JPG Kroaknado.JPG

this was really fun and easy to paint :)

I LOVED painting this model. Really taught me a lot about making color gradients with a brush.

And also, its badass on the table!

I found a unit of 20 Saurus Guard in my local second hand shop that were again, really nicely painted. So of course I had to get an eternity warden to go with them!

I wanted my Chameleon Skinks to be a different color to my other skink units so I went with a brown theme for these. I loved painting these models, aside from my bastiladon, i think they have been my favorite to paint.

This was my favorite model to paint, and was really adventurous for me. Inspired by some folks on the internet, i present the space dino!

I wanted to try water effects on a base and thought that the Troggie may be a good place to start! I used foam board for the rocks and poundland epoxy resin for the water effects (and some on the spit to give it strength!)

    Troggie 1.JPG

    And the base...

That is an impressive collection! Glad you were able to get some of them for cheap. I like how you have done all your basing, and made each of your cold one saurus cavalry dudes a different color.

Love that custom blot toad :joyful:
