Hi all! I have been collecting Seraphon for a while now, and I wanted to start playing. I have already played some games with my Saurus, but I prefer the concept, aspect and style of game of skinks rather than saurus units. I would like to know whether this list should work nicely: Leaders Slann Starmaster - General - Great Rememberer Skink Starpriest Units Chameleon Skinks (x10) Ripperdactyl Riders (x6) Skinks (x20) Skinks (x10) Skinks (x10) Behemoths Bastiladon Bastiladon Troglodon Battalions Shadowstrike 2000 points, 1 exta command point The main idea behind the list is that these are the miniatures I have and I think look the awesomest, so I would rather not buy many more. For example, I know razordons are quite good, but unfortunately are quite expensive moneywise So the actual idea would be to harass the enemy as much as possible (with all the shooting), kill some key targets (with the Ripperdactyls) and summon loads of Saurus, Terradon Riders and Knights I have lying around. Again, unfortunately, I don“t have Cogs or a Engine of the Gods (though I most possibly will buy the EotG) Regards and thanks a bunch!
Welcome to Lustria Online! Your Shadowstrike Starhost should do quite nicely. If you change anything I would swap the Troglodon for a Saurus Astrolith Bearer. This will provide you with additional Celestial Conjuration Points while giving the Skinks Starpriest a further 8" of range and a +1 to cast for Summon Starlight. The Trog is a lovely model though.
Thanks for the advice! The troglodon indeed is quite lovely, I would like to keep him even at the cost of not being super competitive
Would there be any benefit to combining some of those smaller skink groups in order to get the group bonuses, and to fit them into the battalion to benefit from the reroll ability?
I love the Trog too, one of our best models. It does not shine in a list, but is one of my favourite summoning unit.
I've had pretty good luck using a Trog in my Shadowstrike list. Teleporting it to support either a Bastilodon or a Ripper attack works really well. It pretty much always makes the charge due to some combination of spit, cogs and constellation. Opponents tend to overestimate it, which makes the psychological impact worth while as well.
That indeed makes a lot of sense. Thanks for the insight! And I get why people feel intimidated by him
