If GeeDubs actually squat us after all this I'm petitioning we send packages of dry lizard shit en-masse to Warhammer World, or just roll up in a dumper truck and leave it in a big stinking pile.
Know how you feel, excluding armies for new systems like this feels so bad, GW likes to sometimes just leave 1/3 of their factions out in the cold. Seraphon are not the only ones missing there though. No dwarfs of any kind or sylvaneth, although they have warbands teased now. Maybe they are just waiting in the initial lineup due to the big new model line coming shortly after for seraphon... right?... :-/
Btw I am a tiny bit surprised they didn't create a kind of "soup battletome" for the Dwarves, with Fyreslayers, Dispossessed and Kharadrons. ...at that point I fear Dispossessed might just die. Which is a pity. I like the standard dwarves most.
I don't think, any of factions that have Allegience are in danger zone. GW just cannot pull everything at once. Things, that are easier to do, or looks like faster to sell, are going first. In their opinion Fyreslayers may be more popular. Or they are really prepearing something sweet for us. We still got scale pic, right? If any faction to be squated anytime soon, it is certainly not the Seraphon. We are lizardmen riding dinosaurs, after all! GW already pulled 3 (or 4? I don't remember if Gobbos were in december or january) and this is just end of March. We indeed have all chances to get a book till the end of the year.
Hold on a minute, don’t you remember all the things I’ve been saying about the Gloomspite Gitz having standard Dwarf masonry on their bases and weapons? I’m sure GW are teasing something with that. At the very least, they’re teasing that Dispossessed won’t be thrown out yet - why else would they have such masonry on bases of new models if Dispossessed were no longer allowed to exist? Remember how dire a position Beastmen and Goblins were in before their book updates? If the worst does happen and Dispossessed do get chucked out, they should chuck out Free Peoples as well and replace them with more generic human minis (ones with at least vaguely human faces). They certainly don’t deserve to survive if Dispossessed are ditched.
Honestly, I don´t know at this point. We got Gloomspite, Khorne, Skaven and Flesh-Eater Courts by march, but before Seraphon it seems we are getting Slaneesh, Sylvaneth, Darkoath, Fyreslayers and yet another Death and Stormcast. So I would say that no Seraphon for us this year... I honestly hope I am wrong, though.
Wasn't it stated at some point during some financial overview or something that paints are where they make by far the most profit? Both due to lower production costs and due to way higher turnover?
if you take the releases/time rate of the first half of your sentence, the second half could feasibly be accomplished by late July... Leaving an entire two more quarters of release schedule to fit into.
I know, but if you check their releases from last year you´ll see that they did not release so many tomes in the second half as in the first. If I recall correctly: Nurgle, Nagash, Idoneth, Khaine, Stormcast and Nighhaunt up until june, while only Beasts of Chaos were released in the second half of the year. Of course, this doesn´t mean this won´t be changing this year, but still. And, of course, to the list I wrote before, you should add the new faction they are releasing this year (could be Death, but you know...) I am very sad.
Indeed. I just had some crazy ideas rolling around in my empty head and wanted to get them out. They do make $$ from paints sales. Maybe it's the colored plastic or maybe GW is introducing an all airbrush line of paints?
They already have an airbrush line, the paints are pretty good, but they come in the same paint pots as the regular paint - which is not ideal. Maybe they are switching to dropper bottles!
It's nice that I started the hobby with sisters of battle in 40k in 2001, as I've learnt endless patience now I just wait and see what happens as my chosen AoS faction is seraphon, obviously For the shades of grey, I liked that half of the shelves are seraphon.. Coincidence? =) My bet is Colored plastic just as for blood Bowl and starter boxes
Oh dang, an Iwata produced, Citadel branded airbrush would make a KILLING. Call it the "COLOR CANNON"!!! "GET YO MINIS PAINTED"
ADEPTICON RANT Yeah, I'm talking about that horrible game involving Seraphon. I've finally focussed why I'm angry. the match and the Seraphon list was a joke. It was insulting, but not for us Seraphon players, it was insulting for the game itself. The live matches are an important event, especially in a show as the AdeptiCon, so they should live up to the event. I pretend to see an entertaining game, a game that shows me the potential of an army and the FUN you could have by playing it. What do we have here? Seraphon's list: Slann Starmaster (General, Arcane Might), Eternity Warden, Astrolith Bearer, 30 Saurus Warriors, 10 Saurus Knights, 10 Saurus Guard, 10 Skinks (Javelins and bucklers), 2 Razordons, 3 Terradon Riders, 3 Kroxigor, 20 Skinks (Clubs and bucklers), Stegadon I know you cannot do a monothematic list that spams strong units: to play a Slann with triple engine, or 12 razordons, or shadowstrike with a 9 rippers unit would be wrong because you give a wrong feeling of the potential of the army, you focus too much. But the list should show a reasoning behind it, synergies, different units that work together. The list above is nothing of that. It seems just a casual list, made up by a newby player that brings to the table the units he randomly bought because they were looking cool. And even more insulting, played by someone that doesn't even know the rules of his own army. The showing of random models is perfect if we're looking at an army on its shelf, but NOT on an event game that should "promote" the game. In such an event, i expect to see a varied army. Many units that give the feeling of the models' range but that work together by synergies. Speaking of Seraphon, one that uses the ability of the Alpha skink on the Stegadon to buff another unit. Teleport of razordons to snipe some support character. Planning. The actual use of the abilities that make unique that particular army (in our case, dispels on all the battlefield, summoning, LoSaT) I want to see a game that puts in me the will to play that army. I pretend to see the potential of the armies, the fun in playing them. That's what these games should be for. That's why it was a total failure.
Imho it's not even a newby list. Even new players will attempt some sort of general strategy. Up until the saurus guard it makes sense, at least up till there it's "3 leaders + medium suarus infantry + medium cav + heavy saurus infantry" but past that it just becomes random. I mean it doesn't involve any battalions (or even half a battalion) despite those being the Obvious bases for an army, there's razordons but no handlers despite the Obvious synergy, there's several units that are weirdly large yet have no horde bonusses, and can't even effectivly fight in such a large unit cuz they don't use long ranged weapons so those should be split up (and even a new player will have noticed that alpha's get extra stuff..). There's only 1 big dinosaur, despite that being one of our big appeals. It's heavy on saurus, yet has no heroes that actually help the saurus specificly (eternity warden is a body guard, not a commander and the astrolith isn't specific for the saurus, nor is that even it's main use). There's melee skinks despite those being well utterly useless. It feels like it's just whatever he could grab of the shelves nearest to him. I mean, just look at the chaos list in contrast. It consists of one half heavy cavalry led by Archeon, the other half is infantry led by 2 wizards and supported by a buffing shrine monster thing. It has clear halfs with clear roles and purposes. The seraphon list doesn't even have that.
