THat pretty much sums it. It was a called victory... but sometime it happens.

Did the Carnosaur killed some orc?

Yes, everything is completely interchangeable. I specifically designed all the platforms from an old Mordheim youtube channel (they had lots of interchangeable terrain), and the buildings are mostly inspired from real-world Mayan ruins.

(terrain platforms plan on page 22, continued on page 23 of my paint log)
(all terrain platforms complete on page 24, with lots of layout examples!)

I have also made lots of other small pieces of terrain to sprinkle among the buildings, such as bridges, jungle trees, swamps, and mayan stela!

The carnosaur got ahold of one of them (the one that ran slower ) and ate him, and promptly ran the other one straight off the board. Terror will do that to you :vamp:

A few more pics of the battlefield that didn't make it into the report:

One of my favorite shots, the orcs and undead duking it out over the bridge:

And last but certainly not least, the game referee:

Your scenery is worthy of a White Dwarf magazine.

Swarms and Carnosaurs, those monkeys are strapped!

They also look awesome. Where did you get the models for the monkeys and did they come painted that way or did you paint them yourself?

They were multi-coloured cocktail monkeys, and he painted them himself earlier on in his Jade Host blog I believe.

    High praise!

@Lord Agragax of Lunaxoatl is correct, they are just cocktail monkeys off of ebay. The project was inspired by something I saw online, WIP photos here.

I've just found an interesting link to a huge collection of Mordheim rules that someone on EEFL pointed out:
    http://broheim.net/

It's full of new army lists including Albion, Dwarf Slayers and a whole host of different Bretonnian lists - I've included a link to it here in case you didn't know about this @Warden

Wow this is a great find! I was able to fill in all my missing Town Cryer issues (I have a lot of reading to do). And I like the other Bretonnian warbands, and there are a ton of others! Including a dwarf pirate warband... so many good ideas here. Thanks again!

Never posted this battle report (from roughly two Christmas's ago :oldman::banghead:) but I was going through my old pictures and figured I would share.

    Tower of Fire
    warden20181228_tower of fire_board 1.jpg

This was the direct sequel of the "Monkeys in the Tower" scenario. Same terrain setup, same two factions (orcs versus skellies) during which my brother and I swapped warbands with me as the skeletons and him as the orcs.

    Setup and Deployment

The gimmick for this battle was the aforementioned TOWER OF FIRE, which was the same tower of the previous scenario except this time... on fire!

The idea was when the orcs beat up the monkeys and wrestled control of the treasure away at the top of the tower, it promptly exploded, showering the jungle in ashen and warpstone, and alerting the allies of the two (now dead) warbands that something was up and to come to the rescue. The explosion was so powerful that now there was a revealed cache of three warpstone tokens at the base of the tower (as well as a few more scattered around the board). The main objective of this scenario is of course to grab the warpstone before the other team does...

...while avoid being burnt. The other rule for this scenario was each turn, in addition to random encounters, there was always a chance that more buildings around the board would also "ignite," causing extra fire damage for any unfortunates trapped inside :hurting:

Here is what the board looked like at the start of the match:

    tower of fire map.png
After rolling for our deployments, we set up our warbands in the red and green zones marked on the map.

My skeleton warband deployed along one of the table edges (red zone):

    warden20181228_tower of fire_deployment 1.jpg

My brother's orcs were deployed in the green zone by the spawning pool, same zone his skeletons were the previous match.

    warden20181228_tower of fire_deployment 2.jpg

One thing that really set my brother back this match was consistently failing animosity roles with his warboss, who stubbornly refused to move during several turns of the game, to include the very first turn. We decided (in accordance with the rules) that he was undoubtably yelling as his orcy compatriots to run fasta!!! :rage::rage::rage::joyful:

    Da Battle

From what I remember, the skirmish started pretty standard. The orcs (taking advantage of their superior speed were quickly able to secure some warpstone and make it across the bridge that had been such a slog during the last match.

    warden20181228_tower of fire_opening moves 10.jpg

...however their early gains quickly came to a screeching halt with more failed animosity rolls,...

    warden20181228_tower of fire_the battle 02.jpg

...while their warboss stubbornly refused to join the greater fight (continuing to shout at his underlings to work harder)

    warden20181228_tower of fire_opening moves 5.jpg

...and at least one squabble resulted in an orc being thrown over the side of a bridge (he didn't make it, long way to fall :hungover:)

    warden20181228_tower of fire_the battle 22.jpg

Meanwhile, the skeletons slowly but surely were making their way across the board, grabbing some warpstone as they went as they implacably marched to the burning tower.

    warden20181228_tower of fire_opening moves 6.jpg

As the skeletons drew closer, a terradon scout, alerted by the smoke and the commotion, arrived to report for his slann overlords the source of the disturbance to the jungle ruins.

    warden20181228_tower of fire_the battle 01.jpg

The terradon rider moved quickly to intercept the skeletons making their way across the ruins

    Da Conclusion

The skirmish continued as the terradon rider, initially rebuffed, swooped back into the fray to stop the skeletons and the necromancer as the reached the central platform.

    warden20181228_tower of fire_the battle 21.jpg

The orcs, hearing the sounds of fighting in the center of the board, put aside (most of) their differences, grabbed their warpstone and dashed off to find the source of the noise.

    warden20181228_tower of fire_the battle 08.jpg

...however their advance scout didn't fair so well, and got swarmed by skeletons when he arrived at the base of the tower.

    warden20181228_tower of fire_the battle 32.jpg

The fighting only grew more intense in the center of the board when in the span of two turns about half the rest of the board caught fire...

    warden20181228_tower of fire_the battle 34.jpg

...and a metric ton of serpents showed up and made a beeline for the center of the board to stave off the invaders

    warden20181228_tower of fire_the battle 30.jpg

Undaunted, all the treasure hunters converged at the base of the burning tower to fight over the warpstone cache:

    warden20181228_tower of fire_the battle 36.jpg

    warden20181228_tower of fire_the battle 37.jpg

The skeletons looked like they were holding strong, as they continued to heap additional wounds on the terradon scout until it finally was forced to retreat due to the intensity of the undead onslaught...

    warden20181228_tower of fire_the battle 39.jpg

...but even with the terradon gone the combined forces of the orcs and now the swarm of jungle serpents was proving too much for the skeletons, who now with thinning numbers were teetering on the edge of being routed from the field. Even the poor necromancer found himself in combat, now unable to cast any spells.

    warden20181228_tower of fire_the battle 40.jpg

Unfortunately I don't remember exactly how this one ended. I think we called it as a draw; the skeletons did look like they were finally loosing during the final round due to being outnumbered, and the "reinforcements" of the terradon and jungle swarms really doing their work (along with that warboss who never did make it into a fight during this match :joyful::joyful::joyful:). The skeletons did own much more warpstone at the final turn though, so it really could have gone either way. Very fun match to play, it was really crazy to see just how badly things started at the beginning of the match due to all those bad animosity rolls!!

Final shot for the report: the board with most of the surrounding buildings going up in flames!

    warden20181228_boards on fire.jpg

Hope you enjoyed it! :vulcan: This is the last game I played in the old gameroom, any reports I do in the future will hopefully be in the new one!

Man this looks like so much fun, does anyone have a link to where I can read up on the rules of Mordheim?

It was a while ago, when I put together my game tokens
They could not be more simple to make. Just two pieces of foam each, flames and a base painted orange.

Thanks for the massive like bomb @Imrahil, it has been a while since I have been back to this thread.

Haven't gotten a chance to play Mordheim since my move as my terrain collection is sitting in storage :( but I am looking forward to the day I can play again!
