Well, here we are in a new year and with it a new blog! I'm excited that this blog will consist of a full year and not just 6 or so months, I am also excited to start this year with the gained experience from what I've learned so far.

I want to attempt to do this blog a little different this year. Last year I feel I just through up pictures, sorta told yall what I was doing, and kinda moved on. I'd like to get in the habit of going into a little more detail, if only on the first posting to explain more. I'd also like to tie in my own fluff into the blog a little, not full stories but as my armies fluff comes more concrete adding it to a fluff section. Doing this will allow people to read the back story in one place instead if hunting it down in another sub forum, and for me its important for people to know the fluff of my army as I do not play thr game so painting and writing is the hobby for me.

Big Projects Planned (Not In Order):

    2019 Roll Over Projects:

    Thunderlizard
    Stegadon Conversion
    SC boxes

    2020 Big Projects:

    Moon Serpent/Coatl
    Slann carried by baby Thunderlizard
    Engine of the Gods
Sunblood x 2 (one GW, one not)
    Dread Saurian (conversion, not FW)
    Ripperdactyl/ Terradon Hero (Saurus) + Ripperdactyl/Terradon squad
    Bastiladon
    Ancient salamander kitbash

These projects are just what I hope to do but are not limited to the above list. As you all know I'm big into conversions and kitbashes, Im planning on doing many if possible while still doing GW models obviously.

Down below I'm going to do make a few reserved posts for beginning pictures of each project mentioned so that as the blog grows myself and others can see where everything started, the progress and then finished, trying to make my blog a little more organized this year, though I will probably fail.

I'm super excited for this year and to share once again my creations with you all and I hope to see all of yours!

C&C is always welcome, I love the feedback and I love talking about my or your projects :) let's grow and have fun together this year!

    [Stegadon Conversion]

I didnt have a Stegadon at the time so I decided to make my own using left over bits, 3d printed howdah parts and a Stegosaurus Toy :)

Still undecided on the colors I am going to use, I have some ideas, but nothing Concrete. I also ran out of primer while priming so I will need to finish priming her first regardless.

    [Slann + Baby Thunderlizard carrier]

At the moment I dont have a Slann but I want my slann to be semi unique to my army, but not just the slann himself but also the way he enters the battle.

For me I feel our army lacks larger beasts, yes I know we have stegadons and Carnosaurs and even the big bad Dread Saurian, but I'm talking bigger. I dont understand why we dont have at least one sauropod creature in our roster.

So last year I decided I would attempt to make a Thunderlizard, and so far I'd say it's going pretty damn well! The model I got for it came with a baby, and since then I couldn't decide what to do with it, then it hit me.

In my fluff my army is known for using large behemoths, Thunderlizards being among them. Whether they be from the Dragon Isles which the Star Seer Itzli-Citlalli ripped from the earth before the world that was fell or from the Ghur landscapes, sauropods are amongst my armies numbers.

With all that said, I decided my Slann would have a unique carrier, as I've seen everywhere from lobotomized human carriers (7th edition) to Kroxigor carriers. I decided the baby Thunderlizard would he a perfect carrier for the Frog Master when I get one :)

At first I painted the Thunderlizard a mixture of greys and blues and slight green. Looking at it I decided I wanted something more...dynamic? So I ended up repainting her and I love it :)

Colors used: Black, Rakarth Flesh, Khorne Red, Nuln Oil

    [Sunblood (non-GW)]

This finally came in the mail and I am very excited about it! As the title above says I will be using this as a Sunblood, the details are stunning and it's the perfect size. I am sad however that the axe was not able to be replaced by the shield as it was not designed to be replaced. That's ok though, it's mainly just to have, paint, and write about. If I play games it will be casually.

    The model is gorgeous.

Need to think up a color scheme :) My army is kinda all over the place but I want to reel that in some, as I keep building my Cohort.

Have him next to my first ever model painted, the Oldblood on foot:

    [Ripper/Terradon Hero]

Along with the Sunblood (Non-GW) this bad boy came in the mail! Sorta wish it wasnt pre build for easy of painting, but it looks so good regardless! Will probably end up being just for show (Maybe a Oldblood or Scar Vet on Carno in casual games?) Since Saurus don't ride fliers in Warhammer, but it's a badass model regardless.

I want to do something cool with the wings especially (as most do) but I am not sure what yet....and also need in general a color scheme

    Time to ponder...

Next to Stegadon for scale (why is the Stegadon so F'n small???? Come on GW!):

    [Moon Prophet/Oracle]

When I first started the hobby my third model ever painted was my first Troglodon, but I didnt build the Oracle until months after. Finally building him I wanted to do something new, especially as I was developing new fluff for my RPG character (Xolek-Zi, check out the RPG on the forum if you havnt!) which then poured over into my army.

I Soon changed my Oracle into a Silver Wearing Moon Prophet :) I also gave him a Machiuitl and a Double Lash Whip

Almost complete I did more of the technique of dying leadbelcher with washes/contrast to creat a moonstone feel on the plaque connected to the skink. I gave the skink himself Obsidian black scales like the night with white hued with ferisian grey back scales, like the moons or stars rays of light piercing the night sky.

Colors Used: Abaddon Black, White Scar, Ferisian Grey, Leadbelcher, Retribution Armor, Mournfang Brown, Aethermatic Blue, Carroburg Crimson, Cassandora Yellow, Wild Rider Red, Phalanx Yellow, F. Orange, Wild Rider Red

    *Army Fluff Section*

Dark clouds ascend above a ruined city, wind creeps through the crumbling buildings while it speaks whispers to any who would listen. Lightning flashes above with thunder crashing soon after, four skyward reaching pillars are shown for a moment before disappearing into the dark once more. Red eyes from the black look up, lightning again illuminating the sky, nothing but clouds can be seen from below. High above however four godlike beings sit atop their pillar thrones meditating and gazing upwards at the stars above, all in separate directions.

From the heavens came a shooting star, the four hermit mage priests of Axlotol having their meditation of millennia broken stare at it. Over time they come to realize it is not one Shooting Star, but thousands, and soon dragonfly wings of star bright glory opened up to the heavens. Soon a large serpentine body unveiled itself showing bright orbs within the feathers of a tri split tail and star like scales down the length of the body. A large feathered serpent head with moons as eyes soon appeared from behind the wings. This was not Tepok they decided, this was another forgotten god, another feathered and winged serpent Old One, she of the stars and moon. The dark moon Morsleb strained a moment as if its corruption was halted, but then began corrupting moonlight all around it once more. All around them stars fell igniting the long burned out torches and braziers of the long abandoned temple city. Skaven eyes shown in the darkness below.

Below sit many spawning pools, all of which had last been used over a thousand years ago sat quiet, large fish and other animals move about the the swamp grass and cattails growing from them. Slowly something different began to take place, steam began to rise from the most central spawning pool. Fish begin jumping out of the water trying to find relief, the lucky few jumping into neighbouring spawning pools. Soon boiling with the heat of a volcano the pool turns a dark black, and then a bright red to a purple and finally to a moon silver. It was then that the first Mage Priest took his gaze off the stars and peered down, and at that moment a gargled scream let out...which was then followed by the chittering of skaven...and then silence.

All aroused from their meditation all four mage priests descend from their pillars through the storm clouds and mist, their protective barriers burning bright as the storm crashes against it. As they get closer to the ground all they see are dead skaven and serpents everywhere, though serpents there had not seen before. Attributing it to Sotek the Mage Priests evoke his name and soon after come across a single skink, his markings unique but not entirely visable, all they can make out is the black of his scales with what looks to be rays of light on his side and a tail split not twice but three times. Naming him Xolek-Zi, the slanns determine him to be a Oracle of Sotek...though his coloring and tail strange. Disappearing into the jungle the mage priests let him go, foreseeing they would see him again.

Finally the large serpent let out a call, the force of a sun exploding let out, all the mage priests staring in awe. Lunging forward more stars fell down from her wings upon those skaven left below, the stars turning into glistening serpents on the descent. Moments later Pure and Tainted Moonlight shown the shadows of The Great Horned Rat and The Giant Serpent locked in combat amongst the moons above.

One Mage Priest pulling out a thought to be lost plaque begins to read it slowly until finally muttering a single sentence...

    "Metzlitlaco has come"

In time the Skaven and Lustrias foes will fear a new serpent, her wrath blinding in speed. The Old One of Axlotol, the Ancient Serpent of the Moon and Stars battles Morsleb and The Great Horned rat. Fighting to purify and remove the taint of Morsleb she wishes to bring back natural harmony to the winds of magic and to the planet

Metzlitlaco is the last of three Mighty Serpent gods and also shares the Heavens with Yuxa. Metzlitlaco is the sister of the Serpent Gods Tepok and Sotek, the bridge between Magical Prowess and Physical Strength. Often fighting the Great Horned rat in the shadows, her light never fades as it guides those who follow her.

    ______

Spawns of Metzlitlaco - Sitlunār Kōatl: Often referred to as Moon or Star Serpents, these dragon like serpents have large celestial looking dragonfly wings. The Scales of these serpents are hard as diamond that resemble glass feathers that were hardened under immense heat. When threatened these clever creatures are able to heat up and illuminate their wings so bright that it blinds and burns all those around. If this is not enough a large horn is on the forehead able to puncture most foes with ease. For larger more dangerous threats it is said in desperate times the Moon Serpents can affect the weather, creating thick mists and creating lightning strikes.

A favored hunting tactic of the moon serpent is to dive from above its prey screeching deafening sound waves, disorienting those below. After diving down and sinking its fangs into its quarry the moon serpent coils around and crushes its victim. Fairly large they are Apex Predators, able to stalk almost anything that moves in the Lustrian Jungles and mountains.

Ancient writings point to ruins along the spine of sotek as nesting grounds for these territorial creatures. If the mating season or after laying eggs, any intruders are met with deadly consequences. Sites specifically mentioned are
The Ruined Temple of Chiquibol, The Sky Finger, Kaiax (The lost City) and Sky Watch Peaks.

    Lizardmen Spawns:

Normal Spawnings: As with the many rays of light from the moon and stars above, so too are the colors and patterns of those lizardmen blessed by Metzlitlaco. The spawning of Saurus, Skink and Kroxigor usually only happens at the height of the full moon and on cloudless nights. Only in dire times do spawning’s happen outside of these conditions, sometimes with ill effect causing added savagery and more primordial behaviors. When charging into battle the many colors of the cohort disorient the enemy as they are not able to focus on a uniform enemy. With great speed the warriors of the Moon and Star Serpent wage a relentless war against the dark moon and its followers. All spawns of this Old One have Orbs at the end of their tails that shine like the moon.

Blessed Spawnings: Single Spawnings of great Leaders are distinguished by scales of obsidian black in combination with unique markings or patterns in moon silver or other colors. Prophets will often carve markings of important symbols into their own flesh while using warpaint to highlight them after they have healed.

Unique Traits: Spawned from Star and Moon light has allowed the spawnings of Metzlitlaco’s follwers Scales to shine bright as the stars above while also heating up, causing them to smolder. Older more powerful Saurus and Skinks are able to control the weather via the moon orbs on their tails that offer them innate magical affinity, though the Saurus are not able to harness the other lores of magic. Being born of the night also allows them better tracking and movement during the night time, but during the day they are sluggish and simple minded, save the eldest of their spawnings. At night the moon removes all corruption and its ill effects from her children, allowing them to stay ever vigiliant against Morsleb and her corrupted.

Unique Armor: Wearing Moonstones as braclets, large neckleces and tail adornments, as the moon stones radiate moon energy through the Saurus and Kroxigors bodies it hardens their scales and makes the warrior stronger. Priests all the way up to the Great Slann use these to heighten their magical abilities allowing them to last longer in battle or unlocking a higher level of intellect while studying plagues. Moonstones shine brightest when corruption is around, adding to the blinding light of scales.

Those spawned for greatness are adorned with Silver Armor, necklaces and other jewelry. Although gold is still highly sought after and worn. Silver represents the Moon and therefore their Old One, they are one of the few Lizardmen Temple Cities to prioritize Silver over Gold.

Thanks! It's been a real joy working on her, hope to have her done by my Birthday in March.

She is a Tamiya Brachiosaurus, standing at 17" tall and 14" long, I'm excited to do her base. When I do my second Thunderlizard project (yes, I said it, my second) I'm going to use a bit of a smaller model and different species, I have my eyes on a few but havnt decided yet.

In my developing fluff for my cohort they use large sauropod behemoths in their ranks, raised from birth it has allowed them to be more easily control.

I always felt we lacked in the big big monsters, Dread Saurian, Stegadon, Carnosaur, Trogldon and Bastiladons are all great and I love them...but yeah. So even if they're not legal they'll be fun for casual games or just to look at and share :)

    Thanks for the kind words!

I think she was about $65? I cant totally remember, in all I've sank about $130ish total on her? That's with the howdah, Neck armor bits and paint also, though I still need a few more things + the base, in total I could see her being $150-$160 total with everything included at the end. That's ok with me though, if GW created something this big I'm sure it would be close to that price give that models like the Maw-Crusha is $110.

Lots of help with the rules from people in this community also, which is invaluable.
