Hey guys, So I am pretty lost, I want to play a game of AoS in 10 days with 750 Points. But I am really lost when it comes to rules. I have acces to the Battletome, the 2017 Generals handbook and the Battlescribe / AoS app. I tried to combine those things and make up the rules for Seraphon but it´s very confusing and I can´t find anything on the summoning and how it works. (heard something of Celestrial Conjuration points?) Maybe someone can give me a tip where I can find all the updated rules for the summoning and the core rules for seraphon? The Battletome is missing some Battalions I think since I can find them in Battlescribe and on other sides but I couldn´t find the rules / requirements for them. Also I would appreciat any tip on an Army list. I was either thinking of something simple like a Firelance Starhost battalion (160 p.) 1 Scar Vet on Carnosaur (240 p.) 3x5 Knights (270 p.) 1x 10 skinks (60 p.) 720 p. I can just run in, charge some things, roll some dice and be happy. Just take the warscrolls and do the rolls, not much rules needed. But since I played more of 6. 7. and 8. edition of warhammer fantasy I like to play with a Slann. But like I said I have no clue where and how to find the rules on summoning and other core lizardman / Seraphon rules that seem to be important. If anybody could help me I would like to play a Slann with some Skinks and Saurus and hide behind my undead Allie (We play 4v4 each 750p.) and play some summoning games. Or maybe even Lord Kroak with 50 skinks? Since we play against Chaos with some deamons? I have acces to a lot of units because I played fantasy here is what I own: 1x Slann 1x Kroak 1x Lord Kroq gar (Carnosaurus dude) 2x Veteran / Oldblood on foot (1x on cold one) 2-3 Skink Priest tons of Saurus Warriors and Gurads tons of skinks around 15 Knights 3x terradon rider 9x Kroxigor 3x salamander 1x Bastiladon 1x Stegadon 1x EotG Think thats it, maybe some tips on what core units I am missing. And more important tips on where to find the updated core rules for Seraphon in 2020. Thanks in advance
rules of summoning are fairly easy and are as follows you can gather CP in three sepret ways 1 have a slann as your general if you do you get 1 at the start of your hero phase 2 have a astrolith bearer if you do you get d3 at the start of you hero phase 3 you can declare that your slann is not casting 1 or more of his spells if you do then you get 3 CP for ever spell not cast. these points can be spent to summon units from the list withing 12" of either your slann or a astrolith bearer and out side of 9" of any enimy units. you can summon as many units as you have points for and there is no side board any more
Check here for additional details on the summoning (and other stuff) https://1d4chan.org/wiki/Age_of_Sigmar/Tactics/Order/Seraphon Keep in mind, we do have a new battletome/codex coming up soon so a lot of this will probably change. Enjoy!
Okay, thanks. And where can I find the rules for that and the point values for the units? Also any tips on a list for 750p.? Play with a Slann and an Astrolith bearer + some guard or skinks or should I play with an carnosaur and some knights?
it's in like 5 different places the 1d4chan link is probably your best bet for having it all in one place. as for a 750 list how harsh do you want me to be it's not good news.
You can also find a full break down of all the faction rules, including Summoning in Battlescribe, when you click on the Allegiance heading after you've entered your army in. I also just started, and running Firelance! If your opponent's models out-threat yours on the charge, I'd suggest approaching with a screen of skinks so that you ensure your charge. With the blazing lances ability buffed up by the Firelance battalion, you absolutely must be the one to charge, and then hope to roll well on wound rolls. The Scar Vet on Carno is fun as well, for more exploding 6 fun! May I suggest in your second game, you try running a Sunblood (perhaps use your Veteran model?) Give him the Ghyrstrike realm weapon from the realm of Ghyran (General's Handbook 2019), and use the Scar Vet on Carnosaur's command ability on him (1 or more times!). That way, he will be gaining extra attacks on 5+ instead of 6s, while also generating d3 wound rolls on 5+, as well. Using his own command ability, you can be rerolling all the missed attack rolls, to have even more chance to trigger these abilities. Then Wound rolls are going to do d3 dmg on 5+ as well. Quite a monster if you can afford this combo. Probably better for 1,000 points. Caveat: combos like this will soon disappear when we get our new book, as this sort of dice result shenanigans is an artifact of the early days of AOS when this book was printed. Triggering abilities off of modified dice rolls have been nearly wiped from the game with the modern books, so I'd expect that for ours for sure.
no 750 is the best range for seraphon the problem lies elsware. we are the oldest battle tome and are the gray knights of AoS. we are geting a new book soonish but at the moment saurus are usless in all forms non of them can do damage non of them can take a hit all of them are slow same with kroxagors and trogs the rest of our big dinosaurs have also fallen behind being either to expensive for what you get or just bad. the best units we have now are skinks and not for fighting but for movement shenanigans we can not play a fighting game we have to win on objectives over piles of our own summoned dead
Thank you very much that sums up a lot I was looking for. Can you tell me how these Endless spells work? Can I just pick them for my army for their point value or are there any special rules? Also where do I find these endless spells. Probably all in the 2019 generals handbook?
This is true. More true of high level competition. Even somewhat true of casual play, as numerous armies these days outclass us in the combat phase without getting out of bed. BUT, I can vouch that fun can be had, even without skinks or summoning, as I've been doing, just running my thematic Saurus lists. Our strongest options are the Bastiladon, Ripperdactyls, and of course, Slann summoning. Honorable mention to our hideous and all-but-OOP Razordons and Salamanders. But everyone's doing these tactics. It's ok to be different, just know that you're likely going to see a wild and crazy world out there that loves to beat up lizards.
yup you can have fun with whatever you love if you have the right mindset just know the deck is stacked against us. our new book can not come soon enough
you pay the points and then any one in your army can attempt to cast them. a few can only be cast by a surten faction so read the warscroll carefully. there is a phone app caled azyr that has all the warscrolls in the game out side of that the core ones are in malined portance supplement
Ya, pretty much, lol. But if you're saving your points for summoning, Lord Kroak can't kill much with casting. And your skinks certainly won't kill anything. Like, all game. For Endless Spells from Malign Sorcery, Kroak and regular Slann love Chronomatic Cogs, as well as Balewind vortex. Take a Skink Starpriest to cast Cogs for your Slann for maximum benefit. Skink Starpriest also buffs Saurus Knight Cold One bites a little, which is... fun.
it's what i do and you can win with that list just throw skinks at them to keep them from moving and bring on 20 more every round flood the board with them they cant kill us all. manly just don't do strait up fighting use our teleports pin people in the back feild and hold the objectives as long as you can before you are overrun we do verry well in low points games because few can deal with all the bodies we can put on the board. my main list is all about getting 300 skinks on the field and i win more then i lose. just remember we don't play like other armies do we don't fight we dance circles around our opponents laughing as the try to kill us
I've yet to play this way, and I'm both looking forward to it and dreading it? Like, I want to slaughter my enemy! But yeah, it's a unique playstyle, at least, which can be fun.
Well thank you all guys for the input. I will sleep over it now and come back the next days. I will probably just play Kroak with skinks and an astrolith bearer and hide behind my allies. Also maybe I get to boost up the range of his AoE spell (I saw some tools to boost the castrange of spells somewhere) and I play the hide and summon game until they get in range an then I start casting with damage spells.
i love it when you get your positioning right it's a beautiful game and why would i want to play anything but a beautiful game. "i have 14" movement and fly" fun you still have to land 3" away from my skinks and the only place that happens is where i let you
Having 240+ skinks on the battlefield was well worth the look on my opponent's face (playing beasts of chaos so we were definitely playing with power). Hope had left him, i wasn't killing much of his models, he was just unable to get through the skinktide.
