Nice! At least we'll be getting the book soon. While losing 10 bravery doesn't sound too good, I hope they make up for it by buffing our units. I'm interested in the dinos-as-battleline idea, but the start collecting skinks box has me worried that they're wanting to keep the focus on skinks as our main infantry force. Hope that Saurus get brought up to where they should be!
What if we can make celestial seraphon out of normal ones with some kind of allegience ability and it will give them +2 bravery and daemon keyword?
I imagine there will be some way to keep the celestial/daemon aspect, unless they want to advance the lore so that the Slann no longer dream up Seraphon. Maybe they're also going to say that the reason we have been so weak for so long is because of the immaterial nature of thought projections, lol!
So, how is everyone going to construct their ziggurat? New or old? I'm going with old to match the feral feel of my Seraphon.
One thing to bear in mind is that they have specifically branded the SC box as Start Collecting Skinks rather than Seraphon, which to me implies that they are planning on keeping the existing SC box and possibly rebranding it as SC Saurus, and that while Skinks will likely be a strong part of the Battletome, I don’t think they will be to the extent of being a detriment to Saurus (at least not based on inferences from the SC). Also, with the whole not being Daemons thing, I read it as that some will become “Coalesced” whilst others stay as living memories, so my personal guess is that there’ll be a choice of subfactions similar to Slaanesh or Slaves to Darkness where you either get the Daemon keyword and +2 bravery or something like some extra fighting ability for the ‘living’ Seraphon. Also, assuming they keep the whole summoning thing it would seem a bit odd not to have that ‘memory’ nature in at least some of it. Whatever the case though, we are almost certainly reading far too much into what little information we have so far!
I think it will depend heavily for me. I want to see both sides of the panels before i decide entirely. Leaning towards new, as I can add my own extra decorations. I hope there are extra bits in it.
There is no rule for it. Garrison says to remove the models from the table and assume they are inside the Garrisoned terrain feature. They also act as normal for all purposes. I have never had TO rule on it before though. Because most events never encounter Garrisons. At our local club we play it as though they models are are present. Without it K.O is even worse.
I'd hope so. The new Start collecting box is kind of awefull for existing armies. It just doesn't add anything existing armies won't already have in spades, or that has many loadout options. I mean, it's decent value for money, and it's a decent enough as a start for the army. But the lack of possible loadouts means you can't use it as broadly as the old one. Even without kitbashing you can get far more out of the current one. And with kitbashing the current one is just ridiculously much better. Rulewise: - dissapointing we don't get endless spells apparently, they better give us something good for making up for that. - The terrain piece seems weird. Really curious what it's actual effects are going to be. But generally speaking stuff that makes terrain do something tends to be underwhelming (unless you play against sylvaneth...) There's simply not that much terrain in AoS. - New warscroll for the oldblood looks like a decent upgrade, better save, weapon-stats seem a tad better. - Loss of bravery is curious... - We keep summoning based on that ccp mark, if only they actually gave us info. Also, damn it, my bank account is still trying to recover from christmass, and booking summer holidays, and paying city taxes for the year.... this doesn't help :'( Ah well, curious what it'l bring
There is nothing in the garrisoning rule to say that garrisoned models don't count, but it does specifically say on the KO ships war scrolls that models don't count towards objective holding. So that's a bit of a kick for KO players
Terrain plays a big role at tournaments. If you can suddenly make that arcane terrain piece that all the enemy wizards clumped onto dangerous then you have a huge advange. Or maybe make it overgrown. Now all their line of sight spells can't be used.
Now that there is a release date let the rule speculation begin. if we are losing bravery, I hope they have a cold blooded rule like role 2 dice for morale and discard the highest. Would be a nod to the old rule set......
old for sure! If I have money left I might buy 2 of them. Love some scenery to build tables and this can function as both!
Maybe second save? Like scaly skin from WFB. Ignore wounds and mortal wounds on 5+ for saurus units and 6+ for skink units.
Another thing of note from the Oldblood scroll. The Shield is no longer part of the Jaws weapon. It's just Fearsome Jaws.
If the KO rules have to explicitly state they cannot control objectives, then it would lead that normal garrisons can control objectives.
That one specifically effects K.O garrisons. We just play without for casual games because K.O is still bad. The actual rules for Garrisoning terrain can be found in the Core Rules. There is no mention of them not counting for objectives there. It is totally possible the warscroll for the zigurat will specify though. My hope is that we can jump it around and teleport our terrain feature
